easy! or i would say its VERY easy. unhook all the wiring from the motor and throw it on the windshield. unhook fuel line. unhook hoses to radiator and ac condensor. take off motor mounts. All i can think of. That would be it!

The only pain in the ass thing i had a problem with was pulling the powersteering pump off before i found out to use a 8 or was it a 10 mm ratchiting wrench. :dunno

It's pretty easy. Just make sure to unhook all wiring and lines, there really aren't THAT many. Everything Baker said, plus the lines that go to the heater core. I think that should be about it. Make sure you disconnect wiring from the alternator and check for ground straps. There was one that we missed when we dropped the engine from my GT, but we dropped the engine nice and slow and stopped every couple of inches to check for lines/wiring that were still hooked up so I saw the ground strap still hooked up before it became taught. Lowered the body back down a little and took the ground strap off, otherwise everything went off without a hitch.

Do you remember where that grounding strap went? I am putting my motor back in and can't remember. I was just going to bolt it next to one of the guides for the clutch cable.

mine went to the exhaust manifold stud. its a separate nut that secures it after you put the nut on to tighten the manifold down

u say DROPPED.....did you take it out from underneath?

repped for the link ^^^^ but is the suspension a must to take off? I have the trans out already, and its sitting on the 2 post lift with the hood off....do i need to take off headers and all accessories such as alt, ps pump, etc? Or can i wait to swap them over to the new motor when its out of the car? Also if pulling out of the top, where is a good spot to bolt the brackets from the engine hoist?

:yes I wanted to take the motor, trans, brakes, and a arms out of it so I just said f it and dropped the whole unit out the bottom of the car. I'd say if you already have the trans unhooked to take it out the top though. You can leave the suspension on the car, and the exhaust and alternator on the engine. Not sure about the power steering but I THINK you need to take that off.

i bolted to the intake manifold. I used a load leveler and it had 4 bolt points so it distributes the load. the front suspension is not a must if are going from the top, but if you have the equipment, it is a lot easier to go from the bottom.

You have a 2 postlift, it's going to be easy as hell to take it out the bottom.

Step by step

1 - Unhook any wiring/lines that connect the body and to the engine/suspension/brakes. That'll include unplugging the engine/trans harness, undoing the AC and heater lines, taking off the brake and ABS lines, undoing the alternator charging system, radiator lines, power steering cooling lines, steering shaft, fuel line... i think that's it

2 - unbolt the k member and struts, raise up the body, and roll the engine away

Pretty simple. We can do it in a few hours using an engine hoist chained up to the front frame rails to lift the body up. I've done it twice in a couple weeks

a day's time to do it? its easy out thru the top. i did my motor swap all by myself pulling the motor/trans out thru the top. sicne yours is jsut a morot it should be real easy. you shouldnt need a leveler or anything. when you go to do the reinstall make sure you have the trans/engine together. it will make things easier, otherwise good luck getting the trans input shaft all lined up and in the clutch disk right.

Well actually a weekends time lol. Im picking up the motor tomorrow. Well the bad thing is, is that the motor or trans thats in it had a knock. Well i pulled the trans out, the throwout bearing was garbage so i replaced it, put the tranny back in....NOPE.....so someone said a rocker may be making the noise. I pulled the valve cover, NOPE....perfect shape....did a compression test....perfect....so my guess is a main bearing. But ive got another motor to drop in, and i may slowly build the one thats comin out.

Really it's your choice to take it out the top or drop it out the bottom. Like I said before, since it's just the motor I'd do it out the top. If it were motor/trans I'd drop it out the bottom. Neither way should take more than a few hours start to finish
