Just wondering what the biggest rims can fit on a stock 99-04gt. Cuz i came accrost a good deal on a set of 19's with a staggered fitment. thanks
:yesif you go anything over 18, you shouldnt be driving a mustang. a new edge at least
I think it's funny how people say 19's and 20's you lose performance. My 19x8.5" rims don't weigh any more than a stock 17x8 bullit rim. The spokes on the bullits are fat as hell and weigh a lot, I have 19's with skinny spokes (kinda like a saleen wheel) so it makes up for the extra diameter weight.18 looks amazing. 19 and 20's you are decreasing Performance and they look too big. Specially if you dont have any upgraded gears. your car will have a hard time turning those 19/20 over.
17=performance
18=style
I would wait for a good deal on 18's or something. 19 and 20 just look way too big on the New Edge mustangs in my Opinion.
This is the only thing I don't like about the 19's, limited tire selection. It's fine though and they aren't much more than the 315 nittos that everyone around here runs.The tires suck bad for 19s and 20s.
I got light weight wheels for my VW back in the day, went from 15in steel wheels to 17in wheels. The weight was the same but the 17in wheels concentrated the weight more towards the outside of the wheels and the car felt faster in the butt dyno. That car also only had 100hp if that to the wheels so weight makes more of a difference.Actually, the 19" and 20" wheel selection is getting better due to the amount of cars that run these diameter OEM.
I agree with my boy, "D", that the performance thing is really pretty over-rated. If one is really focused on weight, he/she can get some light wheels/tires to help overall performance. I would challenge nearly everybody on this forum to notice a 2lb~3lb difference in a wheel/tire combo if switched on ones ride and wasn't aware of it.
