The 2000 is legal for 96-04 2V engines, but can't have fuel mods. That's what the law is for it. However, most, if not all, SMOG shops won't notice the fuel injectors more then likely, and will most likely just look for the EO #'s and say "Okay looks good."

And mister drag racer, why are you saying get a PD blower, when I said it's gonna be a strip/weekend car once it's done, and most racers go centri? :p
What EO# says that....cause if that has been approved, I will gladly put one on my car instead of a 2.1L!!!

Most guys go centri cause they are cheaper, not really from a performance standpoint. PD blowers perform very well on the strip just like any other form of FI

Ya and you're in Central Cali (guessing Stockton or Modesto) where there's always a "shop" to hook it up, or turn the other cheek. lol. That is the reason right there that I wouldn't mind tapping the oil pan to run a NOVI 2000 instead of the other blowers listed. I feel all the other ones get to a certain point, and then crap out, whereas the NOVI will still be wanting more.
I live in delano which is 30 min north of bakersfield. On stock internals i'll be happy with anything over 400rwhp. With a built motor anything over 500rwhp i'll be happy with. Those are my goals and i'm able to get there with a D1sc. If you want more than that I guess the novi-2000 is your best bet from the list you have.

Here's the PDF for the actual terms...

And go here and type in the EO# to see the list of applicable cars

Ah cool beans. Ya that's exactly what I want power wise myself. 400 on stock is fine, 500 is what I would like on pump gas, but close, or over, 600 on 100 octane.

That's the strangest thing about CARB legal. I've heard this before. It appears that if a part was certified in 2001 then its only good for years "99-01. It seems that it has to be recertified for later models.

Yup, a couple years ago I almost bought a kenne bell 2.1l but at the time it had only been approved for 99-03 mustangs and I have an 04 lol. They have to resubmit for each new model year. Just because a part has a carb number doesn't mean it's legal on any car or even the same kind of car in a different year. You really have to read the orders

Who is gonna do your tuning?
Probably Force Fed Performance up here in Sac.
LOL, scroll to the back page of the EO paperwork. It is only good til 2001
That won't even matter. There is no difference from our cars between the 99-04 years to make emissions different, plus the EO# is on the blower which comes with all the kits.

They're ****ing morons here in CA :yes

Yet you have a lot of parts on your car that aren't even SMOG legal and DON'T have a CARB EO# :yes However, I feel if you have a blower on your car, a SMOG shop will definitely look for the CARB EO# to make sure it's all legit, however though they probably won't look into specifics. Unless they DO look into specifics, you should be fine running a NOVI 2000 past the 2001 Model year.

Ok so I just I had a new thought...How about get the Procharger P-1SC while on the stock block, then keep it until the motor build, and see where that takes me power-wise, then if I want more buy a D-1SC, but keep the P-1SC for SMOG time and switch that out only. Sound good??? :shiftyeyes

The problem with the KB 2.l is the restrictive intake. there are aftermarket ones with people making over 600rwhp with it(I doubt the insp. would know what he was looking at)

Even just a weekend driver,on the street, I think a pd style blower is waaaay more fun than a centri but on the track a centri will give you more bang for your buck,I would even choose a PD here also if you had a way to deal with the heat soak issue

Sounds good bro. There is some good deals out there on p1sc kits if you don't mind getting a used kit.

Ya, I just don't wanna pay out the ass on a KB right away. I mean **** they're the most expensive blower on the list, but I'll keep them in mind.

Ya I don't mind getting a brand new kit either, but if I can find a deal on one once I've saved up enough, I wouldn't pass it up. The only problem comes down to not having a tune, but I think I could talk to Keith at Force Fed and get a base tune just to get it to the shop. :yes

I've seen p1sc kits on corral.net go for around 2g's. Just check corral often and you will get a good deal. That's what I'm gonna do when I install it, get a base tune from my tuner so I can get it there.

Ya I've seen dam good deals over there. I'm also thinking getting the full P-1SC kit and then finding a D-1SC head unit for the motor build, but keep the P-1 for SMOG :)

The only stuff that is "illegal" and visible is my mid-pipe and plenum/tb also very easily changed out every two years. Everything else visible is legit and passes on the stock tune, so I'm not scurred. Tricky thing is putting this built bottom end to good use "carb legal."

Well sometimes you gotta break the rules to have fun lol.

Yeah, it really depends on where you go to get smogged too. Some guys will just glance at your car and not really think twice about checking certain things......others will take a mirror and check for part numbers on your intake manifold, call CARB and verify whether the EO number actually covers your year and model, and then fail you for having "tampered with emissions related equipment." ask me how I know that.

They will definitely check if your blower is legal for your car....and if an EO came out in 2001, it automatically doesn't cover your '03. That's just the way it is. You can run whatever you want, but if you want to pull into any old smog check and be able to pass, put an approved blower on there. Otherwise, just bite the bullett and be prepared to pull it off every two years and run the risk of getting sent to a ref.

One of my close friends got pulled over for loud exhaust, got a ticket for not having cats, then got sent to a ref. They are no joke. The ref made him take off his FRPP shorty headers, go buy and intake snorkel for his stock intake tube. He also measure the decibels and even after the stock mid-pipe was back on, he had to take off his LM1s because they were 2 decibels above the limit.

I went to the Ref for my old civic cuz of loud exhaust (yes I had a fart-can car :p)

I'm almost thinking now of instead of going w/ a D1-SC and a P1-SC for SMOG, I'd get the P1-SC now, and get a F1-A head unit and run a 8-rib setup. That should be fun :D
