So ive read up on some old threads about "slammed" stangs... and i was just wondering all the downsides to doing this.
besides not being able to go over speedbumps. hah

and since its kinda relevant, what is the downside to cutting springs...
is it dangerous?

by no means do i want to do either of these things(unless of couse there is no downside) , i am just curious

Cutting springs will take it out of it's design spec. Just buy lowering springs for the car and keep the stock ones in case you decide to take it back up to stock.

Slamming your car will:

A) Cost you money
B) In most cases, make your car ride a little harsher
C) Throw off your steering geometry unless you do a lot of A

If all you're going for is looks and you want it real low then lowering springs, caster camber plates, bumpsteer kit. The last two aren't necessary if you're dropping it no lower than an 1 1/2".

Just make sure the drop doesn't go too low and hit your wheel when you turn it.

That drop was achieved by coil-overs, caster/camber plates and I'm sure many other items that will cost you not saying you cant afford it but just be aware. I have the H&R SS springs and believe me with just the springs its a bumpy ass ride and leaves you with negative camber. I ended up getting new struts/shocks, caster/camber plates, LCA's, alignment all to have it almost feel back to normal it still isn't there yet. In the end it cost me over $1000 being that I did all the work excluding the alignment of course. But this is how it looks in case you wanted a picture with the H&R SS springs. If you get them I suggest you get at least some caster/camber plates to fix the negative camber. The other items I got were out of choice not, necessary but defiantly will help you out in the long run.

i've got the h&r ss springs, i removed the front isolator, the front end of my car is SLAMMED. and i am going to raise it back up here real soon. its soo slammed that i can barely get it aligned. and if you go that low you'll HAVE to have a bump steer kit and several other mods!

I have H&R Supersports on my Saleen..but I have all the Saleen supsension mods so ...not exactly same geometry as the stock GT's. My alignment only changed slightly because I was already an inch lower than stock with the Saleen springs.. But I am going to go see about getting an alignment anyway real soon. My ride actually improved cause they are alittle softer spring rate than the Saleens were.

I did what one poster suggested and bought the H&R's instead of cutting on my Saleen's so I could always return the car to its original state.

youre absolutely right, i wont be able to afford that any time soon

do you have the other mods right now, or do you just have the springs?

yeah i dont plan on cutting my springs... id like to be able to go back to normal if i ever needed too

I actually made a custom C&C plate, and got real close to perfect with my alignment. but still not happy with it. and with the bumpsteer, i havent gotten one yet (i've only been this low for a couple months...since i put my tubular k member under it.) and im going back with iso now.
