I never thought that was a bad amount, 220 mi seems like alot to me, plus for the enjoyment of 220 miles of driving my stang i would gladly pay $45

Most poor gas mileage can be attributed to poor driving habits, not the car.

Plus,to be honest, if you're worried about gas mileage, then you shouldn't have bought a nearly 20 year old Mustang GT - go get a civic!

i get usuallyfill up before 220, but have measured 19mpg city when i drive like a granny, cruise to a stop in neutral, acc slowly. 24 highway.

although mostly getabout 17mpg. fun fact, when i first got the car i averaged 14.....i kinda beat on it, since my last car was miserably slow and i loved the power

Haha, what a blast from the past. I was an active member on that forum a while ago. I used a few mods and a lot of driving techniques and got 44mpg per tank out of my 92 civic on a pretty regular basis. If you do it right, you can increase your mileage a lot.
i put in a vacuum gauge, and used some of the tips on there and was getting 18mpg. that was when my car was running like **** and i had to pull the engine.

in my 87 with 3.27 gears i got about 22mpg combined. mostly highway though.. but i shifted at ~2200rpms and drove nice. not necessarily like a grandma but i didnt beat on it. in my 88 with 4.10's i got 18 combined with the same driving.. i kinda beat on it more because it was faster with the 4.10's.

I would change the plugs, wires, cap and rotor, air filter, and fuel filter though right when i got my cars to ensure i got the best mileage i could. i also changed my plugs twice a year along with my fuel filter. and air filter i did once a month. i have ocd though haha

All of my fox body cars got 25+ mpg on the highway and I don't drive like a pussy.....well all except my black car.

I got an honest 28 mpg on the highway in my old 88 speed density 3.27:1 5 speed GT Vert with nothing more than: jacobs ignition, Underdrives, electric fan, and bbk CAI, advanced timing (12-13), dyomax catback, and autolite plugs. When I put headers and offroad H on, it dropped to 23-24.

My 88 GT did 27-28mpg on the highway too. It had 180,000 miles on it. But this was also with 3.55 gears, long tube 1 5/8" headers, full 3" exhaust, underdrives and a couple other bolt ons.

My 91 GT with heads, cam, intake, 3.73 gears, etc. got 25mpg on the highway and ran 11.50s.

Every other 87-93 Mustang I've owned was 25+mpg on the highway except my black notchback.

Like mostly everyone else, 18-20 combined. I do a lot of highway driving though. Much more than streets.
