What transmission do you have?

The fun of banging through the gears manually. If you don't like that, that's your thing, and I respect that.

But I've been banging gears since 1983, and I've never gotten tired of it, I've never hated it in traffic, and I've never hated the fact that an automatic can be more consistent... in fact, I love the challenge and pressure of knowing that making the shift just right can win or lose me a race, and when I do it right, it's amazing knowing that my driving skill was a factor in the race.

... as opposed to just leaving it to the transmission to decide.
totally get what your saying...i like driving a standard as well!

BUT all these guys acting as if, standard = manhood are just a bunch of guys looking for a way to make themselves feel better and more superior!

my point was...if you have to go out of your way to say you drive a standard and that makes you man, then thats sad

I gotcha. On that we agree. :yes

There are other reasons some of us need to drive an automatic. I'm 58, and was in a motorcycle accident in college (1975) Before the accident, all I drove was a stick. After my accident I purchased an Italian sports car with a stick. I ended up having to sell it. I broke my elbow joint, and it never healed properly. It is what is called a non-union. I have a 2011 V6, automatic with a bama tune and lots of other mods. However, I'm getting my elbow replaced this month, and would really like to have a paddle shifter or have access to all six gears. But I have not been able to find any solution to replacing the existing auto shifter. I read that the auto trans is fully controllable, but have not been able to find anything on aftermarket shifters.

Semi-automatic applies to both automated-manuals and automatic gearboxes that are commanded to shift by the driver. Transmatic is a company name and a band name, nothing that applies to transmissions though. If the Mustang featured one, I don't know if I'd rush out to get it. But a semi-automatic gearbox would definitely be appealing, especially if it wasn't a lemon-case.

Wow, manuals in the majority. Used to be auto outsold sticks 10 to 1 on the v6. I had an 06 v6 stick (totalled) and now a 12 v6 stick. Even with mods, the 06 wasnt even close.

Very nice mustang i am in the process of saving for the procharger how do you like it?. I live in Port Hueneme CA which is not to far from you and was wondering if you go to any gatherings with other mustangs.

Automatic. I got a heck of a deal on it, so I bought it. I can drive both, but prefer not having to shift so much when driving in the 5:00 traffic in Orlando, Florida rush hour. It also allows my wife to drive it as well, since she is 50% of the household income. After 29 years of happy mariage, I would not think any different.

I've been invited, but have a really hectic schedule, and the weekends are all I have to work on my car. Procharger on the V6 turns it into a scary fast ride as soon as it starts making boost. Stay out of boost and it feels normal. I got the helical cut gears, and they are supposed to be quieter. You can still hear them with the hood down, however. There are a few problems with a procharger on an automatic, having to do with torque control settings. Procharged autos have a lag at about 3000 RPMs. I had to leave my car with my tuner for an additional week for him to get this problem sorted out. It's better, but he thinks he can improve on the lag/surging. His shop can be found online at spankintime.com. He's done 3 procharged V6 mustangs, mine was the first he tuned.

I still need to install my aluminum driveshaft and safety loop, hopefully this weekend. Then I'm replacing my shocks/struts/springs, (Koni Yellows Steeda Sportlines) then a brake upgrade (GT mounts, aftermarket slotted brake rotors, ss brake lines, Dot 5 brake fluid, brake pads), replacement wheels and tires (Enkei PF01 and Hankook R-S3). I think I'm done with my daily driver. Then I need to save up for my weekend car, a Boss 302, probably a 2015 or later.
