Im wanting to get some HID lights for 1) to improve night vision, and 2) because they look sick

Ive seen kits advertising low beam only and hi/low beam.

Does the low only mean that you cant switch to high beam at all and only stay on low beam? Should i get this or go ahead with the hi/lo?

What heat range does everyone feel gives the best visibilty? I was thinking 8k or 10k?

Also are fogs worth the upgrade to HID? I was thinking i might as well cuz it might look wierd with the non HID fogs and HID heads.

low only is just that, low beam only. the higher the kelvin the bluer and less actual light output there is. 8k seems pretty common, i went with 6k on all my cars, and put 4500k in the wife's fog lights.

HID headlight mod

foglight mod (not addressing HID's, just abiliity to operate them while high-beams are on)

I went ahead and got the hi/lo. It was 20 buck more. I think you have to have hi beams to pass inspection. 4000-6000k will give you the brightest light but any color will be much brighter than your stock halogens. I went with 6000k because they are white with a blue tint. I also installed some in my cobra fogs but I don't use them much because they get REALLY hot in the small housings

The problem with HID conversion to OEM healights is the serious amount of bleed that is inefficient and can impare/blind the vision of oncoming drivers :( I recommend a true HID headlight that is already designed together.

In my opinion stay at 6K or below. 8K and above is pretty blue... but maybe your into that.

35 watt ballasts should be enough for you.

YES fogs are worth it. Also while your in there switch to clear fog light lenses instead of the stock lens. the HID or really any light can't really get through the stock lens. You'll see a huge difference if you change the lens.

oh and yes, if you buy a kit with only low beams you will not have Hi/lo beams. I only have low beams and they are plenty. but if cost isn't really an issue to you then go for the Hi/lo. Also the installation of Hi/lo beams is more complicated.

Follow the handy little linky in my above posty :D

PS. I run 8K bulbs on projectors with 35w ballasts and love them :yes

Projectors are the right way to add hids to a car.
But i have been blinded more often by projectors than OEM housings.
^just my experience

^ You have retrofited HID's in your sig. They look cool, but indeed are probably blinding others though... lol :D

I just put in some dual beam headlight and fog hids in my '01 and i am glad i did. it made a big difference. Here's the site i ordered from. I got mine in 4 days.
