My Brother is going to buy a car and he has his heart set on a stang so my question is which is faster a sn95 cobra or 99 up gt. I know the gt is 260 at the crank and the cobra is about 305 crank. What would you get and why. He also is looking at this 97gt with a procharger and mufflers.

i'd get the 96-98 Cobra....u've got a better platform to work with. Responds better to mods and what not.

a 99+ GT is a pretty decent car, and is a little cheaper tp mod then a Cobra.

the 97GT with a S/C has it's pro's and con's Depending on the price, mileage and mods, it may be a great buy, or some fools disaster... a NPI GT with a S/C and exhuast is only puting down 300 to the wheels. If u put parts from a 99+ cams n intake manifold u could see an additional 75 rwhp, or u could even go with an aftermarket cam and get 100hp instead of 75.

U should find out if the 97 has more mods, or even more details on it. If it's been dynotuned or evem tuned for that matter. U don't want to buy a car, start modding it, and find out the mods been done.

buying a car thats got mods is a coin toss man. I would try to jump on the 97 GT with the Pro Charger or the Cobra. All 3 cars within a half second of eachother.

97 GT S?C 13.2-13.7 depending on the suspension and gears. If u suck at driving and can't hook with that much power u might wind up just spinnng.
99+ GT 14.1-14.3 depending on how u drive...a lot of them even have basic mods like cat back and pulleys and CAI
SN95 Cobra 13.8-14.1 depending on driver

Starting with something faster is ussually better, because u wont have to spend money to make it that fast, it already is. If u can get some detail and whatnot on the 97 and she's not over priced, jump on it, otherwise get the cobra....stock 99+ GTs are a dime a dozen...

i probably woudnt buy a supercharged npi car, due to the fact its prolly been abused, SEVRELY. i would look more at the cobras over anything else, they hold value better...

i agree completely about most likely being abused...... but then again how rare is it that u find a used GT that hasn't been abused. He said it's got 50k on the clock, so she may not have been abused. I think u should find out as much about the GT as possible before passing it up.

The GT was most likely someone's weekend car that they felt it needed more power. If the cars done right, she could go for another 50k. Putting S/C on a car is just like playing russian roullete. She may blow at any minute, but if done correctly she could last a while.

tell him to take her for a test drive. have a mechanic do a once over on her.

if that car is in as good condition as she looks and is decribed, that would be an awesome platform to start with.

10k is a good prive IMO, so see if he'll drop 500 off for the fact that she's yellow.

still wouldnt buy a supercharged npi car. by the looks of his mod, its not detailed at all, prolly just slaped it together real quick, and doesnt know how to do things on his own, and what about fuel upgrades, no fuel upgrades on a sc car will make it go KABOOM real quick. and is it tuned? i wouldnt trust it, its obviously a garage kept car, but im sure when it gets out, it gets abused sevrely, i know i would abuse it...

i would abuse it too, but just because u and me would do that, it doesn't mean everyone else would. That does not look like it was just "slapped" together. Just because something isn't sparkling doesn't mean there's a problem with it.

If the car belongs to some kid and it's his only car, chances are it's been abused. Just because u drive something hard doesn't mean it's a peace of crap. Driving something hard and IMPROPERlY usually causes things to go wrong. 16 year old kids who's mommy bought there car ussually fall under this caytegory.

If this car belongs to some 50 year old fat ass as his weekend warrior, then u could very well havew a good car. If some 17 year old kid is whipping this thing around town chances are he's the second are 3rd owner and the crap has been beeten out of her.

I say if u can get more details on the mod, jump on it. Just because the add doesn't say she's gotta a bigger pump, doesn't mean it's stock. Call the guy up and make an appointment to look at the car. Bring a mechanic with u or see if he'll bring it to a shop for u and let someone YOU trust look her over. If this guy took care of the car he'd understand, becuase he'd probably want to do the same thing. This car is def something u should take some time and think about. Car could be a cherry or could be a ticking timb bomb.

If he really took the time and effort and money to build the car right, he should respect the fact that u want to make sure the car isn't a lemon. If this guy can't give u any useful information about the mods done to the car, pass on it and get a cobra, cause if he doesn't know what's done to it, how r u?

would u have a weekend warrior and not drive the piss outta it whenever you got the chance?? i mean if u want a already heavily modded car thats prolly been abused to sh!t go for it, if not i would suggest a cobra, somthing that will hold value a bit better. and if i was to list it forsale, i would atleast put dyno numbers, and fuel upgrades in the ad to help it sell better if its worth anything. who ever is selling it just doesnt seem to care much about if it sells, who buys it, or whats going on with it in general

they had about 79k and were like $10k
Im very happy because I can get to drive my bros car too and its a 35th one.

10k would be to much imo... looks like he made a good decision and got a good deal. my buddy out here just picked up a supercharged cobra for 9k (from some1 we knew so it was much better then buying from a stranger). the guy he got it from had to sell it because he was too big for it.... :lmao
