Well for one

Well for one louder probly means more air flow out the pipe so I would tend to think that it made some more power.
How? Because it made your car louder?

Louder does not mean more power. You can make it loud and at the same time lose power

How come?

How come? are you saying new shorties are going to take power?

How much power do you think I will be making with all my stuff? Check it out!

I didn't say that, all I said because something is louder, it doesn't mean you have more power. The shorties will flow a little better but most likely will not add wnough power to justify the cost than the stick manifolds

You'd be lucky to have anymore than 270 to the wheels.

A buddy of mine put Down 273 and 310 with similar bolt ons with stock internals and same shorty headers. His gain was 13/15 to the wheels over stock manifolds the main difference is the average hp gained he showed gains of 18 hp at certain rpm ranges so his over all power band was stronger much more low end tq and power where long tubes add 22/25 hp/tq and make the curve much thicker compared to shortys they also loose low end and move the power band to higher rpms. The gain over st

im not reading any responses, because im lazy. im just gonna give u my wn response, lol. i have BBK LT headers. the ceramic coating lasted about 2 months, no bullshit. they are total trash. BBK ive found makes some pretty shitty products for the most part. just being honest, man. if you want a nice set of headers ur gonna have to drop a nice bundle of cash. look into getting stainless ones or something that has a higher quality coating on it. if you want the best then you want KOOKS.

Stock manifold and stock x pipe is night and day u can add 25 hp to the wheels with shorty headers and an off road x pipe and that's nothing to laugh. Yes long tubEs add more but maybe 22-25 compared to 13/15 so on a 300 hp car that a 3% difference in the end so is that worth 350-700$ dollars for long tubes used/new and then 500-700$ for the install compared to 300$ for a shorty install and 200-350$ for the headers themselves so in the end if u already have them it's not worth it to buy long tubes and a shorty x pipe then selling the shorty headers and long x pipe u will be wasting money for a 3% gain l. Bought the exact same BBK headers for 75$ brand new off craigs list from a dude who blew his motor and never used them. So the deals are out there.

my head hurts...

what is a stock x pipe??? and on what planet will a bolt on car gain 20+ at the wheels from headers?

nevermind. i wash my hands of this. i always hated header threads. im going back to something involving suspension where there are no power arguments to be made, lol.

if you want to pay for more noise, get LT headers. thats what i did. am i glad i did it? well... thats a whole different discussion. dont buy an exhaust expecting to make more power, you buy a super charger or turbo or spray or gears if you want to go faster. choose your exhaust for the sound, nothing else.

on a n/a motor, longtubes give more power than shorties because of the scavenging. On a forced induction motor the difference between the 2 is reduced dramaticaly. In fact a lot of people over on modular fords was making more power with the shorties than longtubes on KB cars.I am going with shorties mainly because of emissions so I can install my stock midpipe and for ground clearance. I have had longtubes on just about every car I have had and although I loved the sound, i don't think one set did not at least smash the bottom tubes on the ground. a lot of money to grind the pavement lol

Its not about power

the reason im buying new headers is because i had a blown head gasket for a long time. Now im getting a new motor and the stock headers are majorly rusty old pieces of crap. So im buying new headers for the principal of having nice new headers to go with my new 4.75L and if i pick up some flow thats even cooler. NORE is it about noise because its already plenty loud with those 44's

Thank you so much

thanks man, this is the kind of answer i was looking for! So since i plan on supercharging and adding a better cam in a few years shorties will work just fine. and I have less of a chance of banging them on the ground. I already scrape stuff as is! Thanks bud!

if your car is lowered then forget about LTs. all i do is drive around and **** up my $500 investment. i cant even take on a speed bump. get a set of KOOKS shorties. they are a little pricey, but they will last as long as u need them to.
