Yes the I6 and V8 shafts are the same length and spline, but the V8 shaft is a decent amount bigger in diameter. The yokes are also larger, and would require a new rear yoke welded on to fit anything other than the I6 rear end. I had to get one welded on for my 8" before I got a V8 driveshaft. And yes, they should interchange with no trouble.

I know the new edge bullitt rims were 17x8 and they ran a 245/45R17 if I remember right. I know the 245 is right, just not sure on the sidewall size.

Wish I had a better picture of them or even a comparison pic. But the V8 shaft is definitely better.

Also, what size tire should I pick? with the 17x8s
As wide as possible :yes Should be able to do a 275 no problem. I've got 275/50/15s so width is always a plus. And ya they just didn't want to do the work for the side exhaust. But thats exactly how my previous exhaust setup was just without the H pipe.

I've read a 275 on a 8" rim is only going to give the same traction as a 255. And that comes from a guy that knows a good bit about tires. Plus the amount of tire that sticks out past the rim is dangerous, I would never drive a car like that.

And this is from Jazzer

For the 185,345th time.... a 275 is a poor fit for an 8" wheel!

I really wish people would STOP saying this is "OK" because "My buddy did it" or "I had no problems" or "It is done all the time".

If you want to run a 275, do it the correct way and install AT LEAST a 9" wheel.

I've never heard any horror stories or anything happening to people that do it. Plus it's mainly more dangerous for daily driving and hard cornering.
Mine is neither dailyed or hard driven and thats good because my 275's are on a 7.5 rim :shiftyeyes

I do both of those on a daily basis :D

And yes I would look into a driveshaft as well. I spent $100 on my I6 one to make it work with my 8" when I just ended up replacing it about a month or so later with the T5 swap.

Ok cool. My shop has a bunch of connections around town so I'm sure I can get a deal on a custom aluminum drive shaft.

As for the 275s, I drive mine daily soo I guess 255s it is.

If I have a choice in rear end gears, 350 would be pretty optimal for a daily, right?

Completely forgot this was from an I6. I guess it just depends on your driving style and what you want to see out of it. 3.31 are also good ratios for a good balance in acceleration and highway driving.

Do you still have the original door plate on the drivers door? If so check and see what the axle code is.

Here are the axle ratio codes for 67.

0 --- 2.79:1
1 --- 3.00:1
2 --- 2.83:1
3 --- 3.20:1
4 --- 3.25:1
5 --- 3.50:1
6 --- 2.80:1
A --- 3.00:1 (limited slip)
C --- 3.20:1 (limited slip)
D --- 3.25:1 (limited slip)
E --- 3.50:1 (limited slip)

Thanks for the axle codes, I keep forgetting to check the tag though

I put a Scott Drake dome light in it the other day, also drilled a hole in my timing cover for a dipstick.

Here's some pics from today after I washed her
