Ok well here it goes. Today i drained my oil and had a lot of coolant in the oil. Im going to pull the motor to fix this problem. i also am going to clean up the engine bay. I am pondering the supercharger on a p.i swap. I already have my top end p.i swapped. So i was thinking pull the motor and install rings, 03-04 cobra rods, and then some brand of supercharger. Probably going to be a procharger or vortec. What are my limits on boost? Is this a bad idea? Are rods uneccisary? Any input helps.

The higher compression will limit your boost. But you can put lower compression pistons in to fix that issue.

rods are deffinettly a nesesitty if you are going to boost. the stock rods cant handle that much extra pressure. and you raised your compression ratio by doing the pi swap. that high of a compression ratio isnt good for boost.

The piston rings and piston ring lands wont be happy over 400hp. change everything . get lower compression pistons . You have no choice. That or stay under 400hp.

Damn dude, sorry to hear that. If your going to rebuild it I would recommend doing it once and doing it right. Get some forged rods and piston. Figure out what size dish you need on your pistons to get your cr where you want it. Then add your boost after a little break in period.

If you still have the stock heads laying around you could get some porting done, put them back on ur npi block and run the Cobra internals. Either way you should get new rings and bearings while you have it apart. They dont cost much at all. You could then sell your PI heads and use the money toward a Supercharger ; )

Ok guys need some more advice. I got my teksid block for a decent price. It was a complete good running motor with 100k miles. (paid 300). I am ready to start building the block. I plan to run the forged block and new set up for one summer then boost it the next. I have about $1500 to work with just getting the motor ready for boost. I want to run a blower cam as well. Do yall think i should upgrade crankshaft or just use the one in the teksid block and upgrade rods and pistons? Either way i am putting in rods and pistons. What dish should i use? Cam size? Anything helps. Note this is my first bottom end and boost build.

Is this a teksid block from a cobra? If so it should have an 8 bolt forged crankshaft already. I would upgrade the rods and pistons. I just saw Modularheadshop.com has some nice forged pistons on clearence.

Delete the IMRC .
Keep the B heads if you plan to boost. Twin port is great for it.
I would stay stock compression or slightly lower.
Forge pistons rods and studs.
Blower cams and fly cut pistons just because its open so you can always run bigger cams .
Stock crank which is 6 bolt flywheel i would say to upgrade but they are good for over 600hp as is. But i would get a forged one if you can.

Thats by 3 cents . im doing a teksid build right now also .

Ahh ok. well even more so def cut the pistons and the valves. will help for big cams .

Allot with an intercooler a good tune and a good blower.

For starters they make a few different compression ratios in dished pistons. The best way to figure out what pistons you want is to figure out the cc's of your heads and call the place you are ordering from. They should be able to give you cr based on the cc's of your heads. And honestly, how high of a cr you want all depends on how much boost you want to push. If you want to go above 10 - 15 lbs of boost, i would suggest going with a piston that will give you about 8.5 to 1 cr.

With a stock pulley, probably 8-10 psi, but with a smaller pulley and a good intercooler you can get way more than that. If you are going to stay with the stock pully, you would probably be safe with a 9to 1 cr.

ok sounds good to me. So any of you know what dish pistons i would need to run 9:1? Or are factory spec notched pistons good enough?

you guys know what numbers i expect to see with,
notched pistons
9:1 compression
long tubes
stage two blower cams
edlebrock intake manifold
procharger with 8-10 psi
full bolt ons.
