i shoulda taken a pic under the car when i slammed it as low as it would go, i had maybe an inch of clearance between the ground and my cats. my mid sits higher than the stock one, so if i had the stock midpipe in it would have been damn near on the ground lol

i ran no ISO's up front in my car for over a year before my CO's and i never noticed any extra noise. ive seen others post saying it was noisy as hell when they did it. every car will be different when it comes to something like this.
mine will be the ladder of the two...noisy as hell, lol!! im gonna try it though, easy out easy in so worth a shot!

I honestly predict you will end up raising it back up :( I am as low as you, but have a tube "K", custom-built extra-shallow steel oil pan with heavy duty bottom AND an additonal skid plate. The original was beat to absolute crap due to the wonder of our road system :rolleyes:

I just think that going lower is something you will regret, but to each his/her own :yes

Jazzer :)
Pretty car jazzer.

if i did my math right im prolly 1" higher than him already, due to 2" bigger wheel and im not talkin bout tuckin my wheels...ive never owned coilovers and wondered if i could get bout 1/4-1/2 inch and if coilovers will do that but still ride ok..or if they are just as stiff as springs usually..
It is not the wheel that determines your height, it is the tire :yes This is why I asked what size tire you are running in post #11. My guess as to the tire sizes you are running are exactly the same diameter as the tires I am running, even though I am on an 18" wheel.

What is the size of your front/rear tires?

i know that jazzer....an 18 with a bigger tire can be bigger than a 20 with smaller tire. from the pic u posted looks like bout the same profile tire but idk...i know taking it any lower might put me too low to clear typical road hazards, but i never scrape now so i may be able to get 1/4-1/2" without too much scraping...just dont want the wheel gap...hate gaps, lol!

Fronts = 25.6" diameter
Rears = 26.5" diameter

This puts your front at exactly the same height as me, but 1/2" higher in back. I am not sure if you have ABS or not, but would expect the system to be barking at you, upon harder braking.

Jazzer :)

He's talking about the abs kicking in early. When you have different tire sizes from front to back you can get weird issues with the abs kicking on under hard braking. Usually if you stay within an inch of each other with the tire heights you'll be alright.

oh, i though he meant i would hear them actually making some noises if i go lower...he means well huh, lol!! hes got some crazy knowledge though i'll def give him that!! he fd with me on mustang forums too, lol!! so we kinda know eachother a little...he may not remember...

this is the stance im hoping to achieve...my fenders already rolled!

While this may look cool... it is entirely impractical for a street car :(

You STILL need to be able to drive it and this car would be rediculous on the road. I have seen this low, but handling/ride/clearance are absolute CRAP :yes Hey, this is your car and can do whatever you want. I am not going to say anything more to dissuade you from doing whatever you want to do :no

you already said enough to dissuade me, lol!! no coilovers and im thinking bout just pulling out the front isos....your relentlessness and stubornness has beat mine, lol!! i **** around with ya but u are a smart ****er, lol!! so no coilovers!! thanks

YOU are the winner here ;)

:drink

i have no iso's in mine and i mean over the exhaust i dont hear a peep

I ran my '86 GT for 20 years on no ISO's and was 100% fine :yes Just put some heavy black grease on both ends of the springs and you're good :D

OK... African-American grease :p

Jazzer... goin' all politically correct for his pepes :)

So long as you aligned the end of the spring with the perch, it WILL be lower. The OEM ISO's are that sliced rubber tubing and thin rubber washer and are generally pretty smushed (a highly technical term, that is waaaaaaay over the head of the average pepes on this forum!), so maybe get 1/4" drop or so. The upside, is that there is no change in spring rate, while only a small increase in NVH.

The drop will be more then JUST the thickness of the ISO's, as they are approx. 1/2 the distance between the pivot point in the "A" arms and struts. So the measured thickness of ISO's may be 3/16"", it is approx. that 1/4" mentioned above. Likely the car will settle a bit after driving and you will see a bit more drop.

Jazzer :)
