So obviously blue smoke is from oil, first order of buisness is a compression and leakdown test. The issue im having is if I let the car idle for 5 minutes of so I get a some blue smoke on idle increase, none at all on a take of from a stop sign or going to wot, my confusion is that it only comes from the drivers side tailpipe, as I have an xpipe I found this a little odd, Just wanted to see if anyone had thoughts on this before I start doing compression tests etc. Thanks Guys

i have the same problem...a friend of mine said he was behind me and a lil smoke does come out when i come off the stop signa very little then clears up...and yes none at WOT only when it idles for a bit then u smash the gas and smoke goes everywhere for a sec lol...im getting off topic yes i a did a leak down and one of my cylinders had bad rings... i think ford allows 18 -22 % one was like 32% all others were around 10-12% but yeah go give it a shot see what you come up with other then that its pronally valve guide seals

Thats what I was leaning at, as im not losing oil I wouldnt think
rings would be to far gone, with plans for an engine build in the works i'd just have to live with bad rings for the time being, something in the head I could justify doing

well its all in the flow design idk how to explain kinda a scanveging effect but most of the exhaust on the driver side bank of the engine will come out the passenger side tail pipe and vice versa...in my case cylinder 7 had bad rings (driver side) and most the smoke comes out passenger tailpipe....hope that was understandable

The most common problem and more than likely on your vehicle is valve stem seals. They take a crap at 100k miles. If you are not burning like a quart or more of oil per change then i say its fine unless you have the money to throw at it.

Gotcha, just wasn't sure how much they would mix, up till now i've always run true duals on a vehicle. Also if I'm taking the heads off to do valve seals I would deffinatley be doing something else to squeak out a little more power :baller:

You can try using some lucas or a little thicker oil. May clear it up some. Have to take the heads off to put in valve stem seals.
No

still trying to decide what my end goal for the motor is, but I've been weighing heavily on the pi swap, would like to go to fi in the future so i'm not sure if I should even bother with pi heads right now

well do it now for some NA fun then pull it out and build it up for boost cause theres nothing more annoying then having a super or turbo charger and be litmited with the power you can make beacuse of the weak cast internals
