This is a question for the parents out there.

My wife and I just found out we are expecting out first kid.

So I was wondering if there are any tips for getting a baby seat in and out of the back of our cars?

My wife has a Rav4 and that is what we will use when all three of us are together. But if I am alone with our kid, we will be taking the Mustang.

I have a 6 month old and he rides great in the car. Slide the seat forward all the way and tilt the back, you an almost just walk into the back seat. I suggest getting a carseat with a base so its easy to detach. Mine has the latch in the front. I don't even have to stick my head in the car to pull him out. If there is someone riding shotgun, they will be cramped. There usually will be more room without the base (we found this out AFTER our 12 hour road trip lol).

My fiancé rode from Indiana to Florida with our kid in the back with the base. And she only complained once lol. Oh and get the car seat/stroller combo. They're really nice to have.

And congrats!

It's not bad once you can face them forward. I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old. Both are if front facing seats. I'm 6'1 do it's kinda cramped for me when they are all in the car but it's doable. As far as your situation. You will be good with just you and the one kid. My 3 year old always wants to ride in the "musang" so i take him ever chance I get. He thinks that the sound is what makes the car fast.

Britax Marathon or equivalent FTW.

If it's going to be just you and the baby in the mustang, just put him (or her, congratulations by the way) in the front. The airbag will turn off with the weight.

WRONG!!! For one it is probably illegal if you have back seats, and two, the back seat is the safest place for your child.

PLEASE TELL ME YOUR KIDDING. AND SOME CALL CPS ON THIS GUY.

Tell this to anyone who drives a pickup.
RTFM...It "nicely" says that the airbag off feature is for those who can't follow directions and endanger their children. It is not intended to be used for safe transportation of children.

Two seater vehicles typically have a shut off switch that allows you to positively turn it off. That said, it is still not recommended to transport children in such a vehicle. Under 13...should be in back seat!

That said...

I don't have any advice for a rear facing seat. But when you are ready to turn them forward, Recaro makes a forward facing seat and a booster that fit like a glove and look great. I tried dozens of seats before finding these which are now permanant fixtures in my stang. If interested I can post pictures / model numbers. Prices were reasonable as well.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Really? Don't get all butt hurt 'cause I neg repped you for giving stupid, unsafe advice.

First off, reading comprehension is key, and I know "if" is a small little two letter word but it changes the whole meaning of the sentence.
Two, I would tell this to anyone regardless of what vehicle they drove.
Three, and I know laws vary from state to state, but in Nevada it is illegal for anyone under the age of 12 to ride in the front seat of a vehicle if there is a rear seat. Again there is that little 2 letter word again. This means that if there is no back seat ie. pick ups and two seat cars, they don't have to ride in the rear seats because here is none. Now the law is there to protect the lives and well being of our kids. Why? Because the back seat is the safest place to be in the event of an accident. Kind of like why you have to wear seat belts. And statistically, the rear passenger side is the safest.
Four, obviously you don't have any kids so why you even chimed in when the first line of the thread was asking for the advice of parents.
Oh I don't even want to go on.

To the OP, my boy also sports the Recarro ProSport when riding in my car. I also looked at a lot of seats and did my research and ended up buying the Recarro. Not only is it one of the safest and most comfortable, it fits and looks good back there. It is also approved for airline use, not all seats are. I'll try and get some pics of it in the car after work tomorrow.
