So, a friend and I left at about 4:40 this morning, on our way to Philadelphia, PA, from southern Delaware, to pick up a car he bought. I've mentioned it a few times that I had gotten 27-28 MPG last year, but didn't top it off once I was home, to do the math. This time, I beat that. Topped it off, did the math, took pictures for proof!
On the way up there, 121.0 miles, took 4.545 gallons to top it back off. Not bad. 26.622 MPG. Now, on the way back, I was bummed, because we ran into two really bad traffic jams. Constant stop and go, could barely get into 2nd before slamming on the brakes again. Although, it had warmed up to 91 degrees, and a bit of it was downhill, so there was still hope of beating 26.62 MPG. I was hoping for 27, but would have been fine with replicating the 26.62.
The way back: 126.2 miles, took only 4.265 gallons to top it back off! 29.589 MPG! Hell yeah!
To top it off, today is my birthday. So, that was a very good birthday present. I am very, very confident that without the traffic jams, and the little bit of revving in the overpasses I did, I would have easily cracked 30 MPG. But, having a proven 29.5+ MPG is incredible for any V8!
