I just purchased a 2000 gt manual it's mostly stock but does have 95 cobra replicas with 275/40/17 on all 4 corners that are half life left. Right now im doing maintance stuff but I was looking at upgrading the suspension it is my dd but I would like something for maybe light autocross duty with a good stance. Looking for suggestions looking in the 800-1000 range as I don't want a crap setup.

Any ideas on a good setup. Something decent ride not too harsh, good stance, and maybe occasional autocross sessions? Oh I do plan to to cobra 03 wheels with 245/40/17 & 275/40/17 kdw2s later but figure I will use my rims now.

Super sports are pretty stiff. I'd do a degree of negative camber on each side and then go with a 255 or 265 up front with a 35 or 40 series sidewall. You can usually buy nice tires for cheap on Craigslist. Just look around.

FLSFC's are a must!

I'd d:

- FLSFC's
- Lowering Springs
- CC Plates
- Strut Tower Braces front/rear
- LCA's

Or if you wanna get real crazy; get a Tubular K-Member and go w/ Coilover's and some LCA's

I would recommend you forgo the STB on either end, as you won't get enough benefit to justify them :no

When tires are changed, drop from the 275's to no more than a 255, if looking to take corners well. The current 275's you run, will roll over onto the sidewalls more than a 255, all else being equal.

Prior to doing ANY of these mods, take good long look at the ULTIMATE goals for your car :yes I understand occasional AX, but if you really get bit by the cornering bug, the mods you do now, will VERY likely not meet those expectations down the road. Better cornering = bigger money, but above all else, your mods should make you happy to drive your car :D

Jazzer :)

^ forgot to mention how important tires are in the equasion :yes

They are the first/last item in contact with the road surface and need to be chosen by the needs of the driver. If you are looking to take nice corners, at least some sacrifice must be made to Summer over winter grip. If you have really rough Winter weather in your area, you might even go so far as to consider a second set of wheels JUST for Summer/AX use.

Jazzer..... always pimpin' fo da hardcore :)

Don't listen to him.....he eats twisty's!! LOL!!

Yup and Yup! My suggestion would be for you to actually run the car stock in an A/X and see what it needs. To be slapping on parts without knowing if you actually need them, to me, is a waste of money. Also, modifying your car will bump you up with the more experienced drivers and you'll be getting your ass handed to you at every event until you get the driver mod up to snuff.

I haz me sum twisties everee chance I git

what they've all said,
But I'd do:

Sub frame connectors, and get good ones, they are NOT all equal.
Either Steeda or MM, imo.

decent springs,

CC plates.

with just those alone, and decent rubber, you will be very happy.
