I've noticed that a few newer members have came through asking questions about looking into getting into a 99-04 mustang GT and they are asking about the common problems with them and if there are any problems with them. well for those that have had problem please list them and please also list how long you have had the car.

2003 Mustang GT

I've had mine for 7 years other than oil changes, brake pads and tire the only thing I've had to repair/replace was a trans temp sensor it was like $79 and sometimes in the heat of the summer the driver side window doesn't like to roll down and I finally replaced my original battery last year. Other than that I've really had no issues with this car in the states or even running it wide open in germany on the autobahn. It has been supercharged for the past 2 years(20k). It currently has about 88k on it it had 8k on it when I first purchased it!

2002 Mustang GT 105,000-109,500 miles

Had it for 6 months so far
The only repairs I've done so far were, replacing a leaking pinion seal and replacing my intake manifold after it broke at the heater hose connection. Other than that my Mustang has been very reliable. I've beat on it pretty hard too, a couple of hard races and countless runs over 100mph.

2004 v6 with 69 k miles-

had it for one full year and have put about 10k miles on her.

the only repairs/problems-
driver's side window stopped working for one day, then it randomly worked again and is fine.
battery issues a couple different times but got those taken care of now.
i think my ball joints need replacing
3 diff times i have lost power of acceleration while driving but then it picks up and works fine. my mechanic is looking at it about that this next week.

1999 GT 5 speed.
123000 on odometer, 117K when I bought it in October 2011.
Very reliable car. Only issues thus far.
Cruise control stopped working
Keyless entry stopped working
(I suspect an electrical issue on both, tracking down) Neither one causes problems with driving the car.
Throw Out bearing is on it's way out. Junk aftermarket one that the PO put in with the new clutch. Still working, will replace.
Rear wheel bearing is making noise. Car has 123K on it, I really can't complain.

I have ~12x,000 on mine and aside from upgrades or just general maintenance all I have had to do is replace the original battery, one wheel bearing, tob/clutch, and I have repaired one blown out spark plug. Overall I would say the car is pretty reliable

2000 Mustang GT Vert - purchased w/ 77k miles and currently at 103k miles. I purchased the car a little over a year ago.

Only problems/issues I've had:

- Plastic Intake Manifold cracked - Replaced
- Left rear axle bearing went out - Replaced
- Mysterious misfire after installing CAI/MAF - Fixed w/ tune
- ToB is going out - Replacing entire clutch w/ RAM HDX Clutch kit & FRPP ToB & Steeda Clutch Quadrant kit
- Left rear quarter window doesn't roll down - lol haven't fixed it yet. I'm digging the fins w/ the top down door windows down and quarter windows up.

Car has been great aside from my small issues; just regular oil changes w/ Mobil 1 Syn

1999 Cobra 134k miles.

Only issue I've had is the exhaust manifold nuts coming loose and a pinion seal leak, but the previous owner did an SRA swap so it's not the original rear end. Oh and my clutch cable has snapped twice, but again thats from an aftermarket quadrant.

Heater cores heater cores and heater cores, alternators, parking brake and crank sensor are the most prob of 99-04, i only experianced my self the heatet core 3 times by 130000 lol

101,000-118,000 in the last year.

IAC required a shot of penetrating spray last summer, idles fine now. Random clunk or two from underneath I cannot identify. Also a check engine light for what is hopefully a gas cap.

It's mostly been maintenance, modding, and that time I nailed a curb...

I told you how to fix that!

2003 GT, 84k

-drivers side window motor doesn't like to work in the heat
-clutch fork kept sliding off pivot stud (biggest pain in the ass)
-worn rear control arm bushings(upper)
-oil pan gasket leaks some
-passenger side midpipe nuts came loose

03 gt
61k

no issuse thus far (that i havent caused do to modifications)
original battery still

2000 GT
Had it for 2 years, haven't put much milage on it. 57k on the body.

Had to replace some bearings in the IRS (not applicable to most)
Frozen slides on brake bracket
Couple calipers would hang
Snapped a bunch of bolts off from rust, mostly body ones, one exhaust stud
Blew out the heater core
Vacuum leak on the PCV hose (solved with a hose clamp)
Bunch of random shorts and ground issues

I would attribute most to the PO being a f*cktard.
Otherwise things rusting, bearings, and brakes I would consider normal wear and tear on a 12 year old car.

The heater core failure sure did suck though. :(

I own 2 Stangs , my 2001 GT , I ave owned for almost 3 years now.
So far , it has been only oil changes , fuel pump replaced , tune , brakes & a new battery.
It has been a great car so far.

'03 GT

71000 miles. Replaced alternator, battery, and changed the rear when diff gave out (I do alot of burnouts, haha.) had to fix A/C. I use it on weekends and racing. I love it and it has been really reliable in all honesty, even with my driving it hard and through when I drove it daily.

2004 Mustang Gt Convertible
Automatic
-30,000 original miles

Pretty much stock car. Other than SEVERAL sets of tires, oil changes, and usual maintaince, it runs like a boss, knock on wood.

Note: Car is beat to **** when driven by manually shifting gears and manually downshifiting my auto trans. It sees redline everytime I drive it pretty much every chance I get. I love it!

I beat it so hard, it smells after i'm done with it when I park it in the garage. It has its own odor sorta speak.

02 mustang gt 5 speed 112xxx miles had it since early 2007
I have replaced the altanator twice blown out 2 spark plugs and had to put in helli coils replaced a battery replaced clutch and need valve seals right now I beat on pretty hard all the time and ran a 150 shot for a long time
p.s. I also need a belt tensioner

99 gt vert, bought in real early 2005 @ ~87k. now, so many years later, with ~147.5k .. i don't know how or why she keeps running. but the most major problem i've encountered?

loss of a/c. f**ks given: 0. it's been gone for at least 2 years now, couldn't really care less. just pop open the window and drive faster =].

the normal maintenance... hasn't been performed regularly (lack of time and funds, usually; getting it better now), more at odd intervals.

loss of back window - meh, i don't get wet, and there's built-in drainage (or what i think is drainage might just be holes, lolz).

not much interior left [no back seat, not even a delete kit; carpet only for driver's side; passenger seat belt a bunch of fail - locks up before even extending about 3 inches; no center console, no radio bezel, no actual audio pieces (speakers or decks); i can see into the trunk if i look back from the driver's seat - yeaup, removed all the stuff in there too; i think i'm missing something from this part...]

i'm kinda really waiting for her to fall apart or the engine to blow up or give out. so i can upgrade :)
