How to badge my 4V swapped Stang

GT badges or none at all.

posers always get called out where I'm from & folks can get down right nasty on this topic, why cause aggrivation for yourself?

GT or nothing. I always get excited to see a Terminator at a distance while at a show or cruise only to walk up to it and see the GT interior. Of course the hoods are always down as well. Since my Mach 1 is an 03, it has the tri-bars on the side. Ive heard people comment about those and they are supposed to be there lol

I would leave badges off so people just expect it's a v6 or something lol
:yes That's how my V6 is.

GT badges or none at all.

People really need a life to blow a gasket because someone has the wrong badge. HOW DARE THEY!

That's funny, I get all sorts of people asking about my "terminator" at shows and I actually have to convince them it's a GT. Though I suppose the interior, engine and body may give that impression. You can believe me I had the hood up as well, but that just adds to the confusion.

while I kinda agree with you, it's the end result that counts.

how would you like to have people at any event you go to walk up to you & say something like "nice car, its a shame you ruined it with the fobra look"
& then hear them say "what a dick" under their breath to their buddies while they are walking away?

it would get old if it was me.

if you want a cobra buy one, if you can't afford one, be proud of what you do have.

BRB, too poor for a Cobra, going to go torch my car to avoid humiliation.

Well it still gets confused for one, so wouldn't that be achieving the same effect as trying to be something it isn't?
I don't think so, without the cobra badges its someone else's dumbass fault if they think it's a cobra not yours.

When I bought my Mustang I thought that I would build the motor an put Cobra badges on it. After all, I adore Cobras. I grew up wanting one of the orginals. I bought the badges. They are still in the garage. I never put them on. As I learned about Mustangs I saw several 6ers with Cobra badges. It was then I understood.

You are telling a lie if you put a badge on your car that is not deserved. It's like wearing a medal of honor that you did not earn. My car is a GT. It came from the factory as a GT. There is absolute nothing that can change that except... my GT can beat Cobras. But, that doesn't mean it should wear a Cobra badges, it just means it kicks their asses.

I have Corbra badges for sell if anyone wants them. They are not going on my car.

P.S. There was a new guy that thought he bought a Cobra not long ago. Nothing matched. Wrong motor. Wrong transmission. Some asshole sold him a clone as an original. It doesn't matter how much money you spend trying to build your Corbra clone. It is the Vin number that matters. Whoever sold him that car lied and cheated him. When you put fake badges on your car... do you want to be the guy that cheated?

P.S.S. I am the guy that originally was going to put Cobra badges on my car. Why? Because it will simply outrun any 99-01 factory Cobra that existed. That doesn't make it a Cobra. It just makes it a very fast GT.

Okay, here we go... First off no matter what anyone says it is your car to do whatever you want to. Screw what other people think when they drive past you. You made it what you wanted. I say run Cobra Badges if you like the look. Hell, if you are worried about people thinking its a authentic Cobra, get a Cobra badge made and slap of on somewhere. Some of you guys are rediculous. If you rock a GT with all Cobra parts and people come up to you thinking its real, those are probably the same people that can't tell a Buick from a Lincoln so who gives a **** about that. And personally, I do not know one person who would buy a Cobra/Mach/Bullitt without doing a vin check or ask for paperwork. If you do and you want it for the authenticity then you def would want that shot. So misbadging only affects idiots is my opinion. Op, put on the damn thing what you want. If you spend the money to look like a Cobra. At least go with the cheapest step in that process, buy the badges.

I would tell them if they don't like it, don't look at the ****. I made it this way for me, not to aesthetically please you douchebags.

Yes, I'm away from the comp. Working on the stang, or the wife

while I kinda agree with your point, look at it this way, how many times would you have to tell people the statement you just made above before you wished you never put the fake emblems on in the first place?

having to explain your self over & over will make you hate to even drive the car no matter how bad ass you think it is as a fobra.

don't think I'm right? just read the comments in this thread & look at the poll, it's not even close, people don't like fake cars & some will go to the trounle to make the owners life miserable.

not worth the hastle if you ask me, but your right it's his car & if he wants to make a fool of himself who are we to stop him?

Im with the whole "dont badge it something its not" attitude. I wouldnt say ive misbadged mine but a lot of people dont realize my emblems say froush instead of roush. I get quite a few negative looks at shows until they look closer and see what it actually says.

No shortage of those people out there. Even when mine was just a 2v GT with Cobra bumpers people thought it was a Cobra, and accused me of misbadging. :screwy:

I can't imagine anyone in their right mind that would see a GT with Cobra bumpers and think "Wow, that's a Cobra!"

I have SVT badges in my garage that I've never put on. The question is, is it powered by SVT or a custome build? A custom build is not SVT.
I had seen some badges floating around out there that were SVT, but in small print below the SVT said "powered by."

Not to mention the M112 has "SVT" cast into the snout. Should I go ahead and grind that off?

Ironically as someone who some would consider misbadged, the response I've received has been overwhelmingly positive. People haven't pissed and moaned "look at this fake Cobra! We should key it to show the owner this is an unforgivable offense!" The reaction is "Wow! Nice terminator!" "It's actually a GT." "Seriously? No way." "Yup. Swapped everything over myself." "Wow, that's pretty crazy."

I think people are a lot more reasonable than we give them credit for.

If I see a well done clone, quite honestly I'm more impressed than seeing the real thing. That means that someone went through the time and effort to replicate the original.

If I see a poorly done clone, I probably would judge it on its merits. Fobra with a stock 2v under the hood? I'm going to keep walking. Fobra with a 5.4 TT under the hood? I would find that cooler than an actual Cobra.

If it's a plain GT with Cobra badges, I'd probably pull a Nelson, point and go "Ha-ha!" and keep walking.

Where it's unacceptable is when someone is trying to pass it off as authentic. I saw what at first glance appeared to be a 1970 Chevelle SS for sale one day. I stop to check it out, and the owner swears its authentic. So authentic in fact that it had a 305 engine and a 3spd auto on the column. Yeah, nice try. Quite honestly, if it was a true clone, I still would have bought it. I don't care if it's fake, that combination is just plain droolworthy. :drool

Sidenote: I might throw a Cobra in the grille. After all, real 03/04 Cobras had a pony in the grill, so it's not really misbadging. :bubba:

I personally disagree with misbadging, but its crazy to hear someone tell a guy he will be put down, hassles on the streets or that it is an abosolute no to turn his car into a Cobra or Mach clone. I didn't know that there were laws in effect as to how you style your car. I could have sworn he makes the car payment and is the one putting in the work for it to be what he wants
