I finally figured out why people say mustangs suck in less then ideal weather. I was heading home from work and the roadway was wet, I made a left turn with a little to much on the gas peddle and the back end started to swing around.

I am genuinely concerned about driving this winter. What do people who drive their stang all year do in the winter? (other then lose the lead foot)

I throw 2-3 sandbags in the trunk otherwise Ill slide around, then studded tires all around.. I remember the first day I got my Mustang I was at a stop light with about 1/2" of snow on the road and just barely hit the gas and the tires started spinning. Thought to myself yep, gonna need snow tires...They make a big difference with the weight in the trunk.

Also avoid slush above all else. I went to change lanes going about 30mph with just a thin layer of slush on the road, thinking it wasnt enough to bother me, and the ass end gave out and the car went all squirrely. Slush is your greatest enemy.

If you take it slow youll be good. You can drive on snow just fine with these cars if you have good tires and dont go faster than you should. Wake up half an hour earlier and give yourself extra time to get places, its better to get there a bit early than not at all because youre in a ditch.

Thanks guy, I will start looking into snow tires and will defiantly throw sandbags (or other heavy items) in the trunk.

Generally I am pretty good about driving carefully in bad weather (rain/snow) but as I have had the car for all of 3 weeks now I am still learning the dos and donts of a RWD car

last winter I was caught in a snowstorm coming from Providence to Boston, took me 3 and a half hours to make the trip going 25 mph.. but I lived to tell the tale. My best advice is the next time it snows take it to a couple wide roads where you have some room for error or even a big parking lot and have some "fun", figure out how the car will handle and how much gas you can give in any situation. And +1000 to slush is your worst enemy.

I lived in Cranston and ri roads suck to begin with even with my all seasons driving down 95 with any amount of ice or snow on the road didn't seem safe so I put my car away every winter.but if that's not possible than remember to just be cautious of other people and what they're driving

Could find a cheap junker to last the winter, not just for safety but for the car. I didnt have a speck of rust on my car when I got it, then the salt corroded my rims and ate my exhaust to hell. Id buy one but Ill be further south this year for winter woo.

winters tires is all you need.. you can even throw a couple bags of sand in the back to further help with traction.

I got some better season tires that did improve the fishtail effect in the rain. But I still notice and hear the back tires slipping in he rain sometimes. Its just a mustang curse lol.

Anchorage Alaska, modded 2006 V6 is my daily driver unless there is more than 5" of snow.
Studded snow tires and traction control make this a fun ride in the winter. Prepping for its 4th winter in my hands.
Lighter shoes may also help!

Got brand new tires on her for this year if it snows, Thinner than the ones I had last winter since this V6 doesn't need so much meat on the rims.. Lol

Hoping it doesnt snow, but if it does.. 400Lbs of sand in the trunk and I'm set.
