There are some differences between the tunes but nothing extreme. I doubt you will see much difference in peak power between them, maybe a slightly different shape in the torque curve. Where the real difference in the seat of the pants feeling between the tunes is the throttle response. The race tune ramps up the voltage more quickly and gives you the feeling of more power. 1/4 throttle with the street tune might be more like 1/3 throttle in the race tune. A lot of tuners do this to give the illusion that you're making a lot more power. But in reality it is just tricking the computer into thinking you have he go pedal pressed down farther than it really is. You can have your tuner adjust any tune to have the characteristics you want, you just have to know what to ask for. When I was running Bama tunes, back before AM when Doug was doing the tuning, I had him actually turn down the throttle response in the race tune. It made it easier to control the angle of the back end with the throttle. When it is too sensitive it made it harder to control the oversteer as precisely as I liked.

Of all you guys running Bama tunes, which tune do you run? And if you have the Hybrid Tune which tune did you delete? Is the Hybrid worth getting? I'm about to order their tunes and was wondering what the consensus is on which is everyone fav. This is not my daily but I do drive it alot in the warm months. You guys input is greatly appreciated.
Your going to love all of the tunes! We offer a bunch of different options so we can have a tune for everyone's driving habits.

Here's how we write each tune:

Street (87-93 octane) - The street tune is designed as a daily driver program that focuses on increasing mid-range power. Automatic vehicles are further enhanced by making adjustments to the transmission's shift points and firmness.

Performance (87-93 octane) - The Performance program is designed to add power at 3000 RPMs and higher, focusing more on the top end horsepower and all out performance driving. Timing, fuel and throttle response settings are slightly more aggressive than the street tune. This is a great track tune but also works well for daily drivers that are looking for a little more "get up and go" than the street tune. The automatic transmission settings are the same as in the street tune.

Race (91 - 93 octane) - The race tune will ensure the largest increase in vehicle performance. Using the highest grade of fuel available in your area is mandatory. This file is designed for "Race Use Only", as the timing, fuel, and throttle response settings are very aggressive. It is so aggressive that we do not recommend it for daily driving as it may cause your vehicle to try to jump out from a stop and easily spin the tires. On automatics, we implement entirely new shift points and firmness settings to further enhance the all-out performance of the vehicle.

The Hybrid tune is also great. It's basically the Low end of the Street tune, Mid range of the Performance tune and top end of the Race tune!

I hope this helps with your decision. Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions or need some assistance! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

My CAI and tuner w/ my tunes have shippped. Should be here today sometime. That was fast. Ordered on Sat night and will be @ my house on Tues. Talk about turn around time. I reguested the Hybrid via the comment box, so you can reguest that way w/out calling them.. Looking forward to the testing in the coming week.

Just recently received the 93 Race/Hybrid tune. I combined this with a cat-back tune (I don't have catback exhaust) and the results are impressive.

I've heard that there isn't much power to be had by replacing the factory cat-back, and that it is more so for sound. Based on similar diameter piping of aftermarket and OEM cat-back exhausts, I opted to get a tune for an aftermarket exhaust from BAMA, just to see if the increased flow characteristics in the tune could be used on the stock, similar-flowing system. This, combined with a Pypes off road H pipe (and tune), is definitely noticeable. Wish I had a dyno.

Don't mean to jack the thread. lol

You're feeling the extra punch from being tuned, not the catback... Same with a cai
Essentially that is what I said. I don't have cat-back exhaust so I definitely wouldn't feel anything other than the tune for it. What I was saying is that, due to Bama having an option to tune for it, I assumed they changed parameters around a little to allow better flow and, due to the stock system being quite similar in pipe diameter to most aftermarket systems, I thought I'd see.

Would be best if I simply added the cat-back tune to the tune I've been driving on for the last month to compare, rather than adding the cat-back tune in addition to the hybrid tune. Oh well.

If AM/BAMA could chime in that would be cool.

Just installed my CAI and loaded up the 93R tune. Have to say I'm extremely happy. Figured I would run the most aggressive tune first, why, why wouldn't you :lol. Will play w/ the race tune for about a week and then play w/ the performance tune next. I don't see my self ever going to the 83 street unless gas prices go insanely high. Did not get the hybrid tune, even though I asked for it in the comment box. Will give Bama a call so they can send that one out to me as well. Might as well have all options on the table. It's going to be a fun couple of weeks. :3gears

I wasn't that impressed with my race tune. It lost so much low end it wasn't even cool. And up top pulls just like the performance tune. I'd like to try the hybrid for sure

I felt the same with my race tune, got the hybrid and it's better now, I don't feel like I have more power or throttle response, but it feels like a race tune that's more pleasant to drive, not any less powerful but more enjoyable I'd say.

I ran a Bama 93 race tune. Did a dyno run at JPC's and found out that it was very lean, I had Justin retune it.

Hmm, AMDanBailer does the file say "hybrid" when we get the email tunes? I asked for 93 hybrid in replace of the 93 performance. File says 93P which I assume should be the hybrid tune.

I got Street, Performance, Race, and Hybrid. Hybrid should be listed as such.
