I am in the market for a new truck, I was pretty dead set on and F-250/350 Turbo diesel because where I live there are a lot of hills and towing my tractor around is tough on a NA Motor.

Today I went to a dealership and a sales REP suggested we ride in a ECO boost just for **** and giggles. Well this truck pulls like a freight train and I was pretty impressed.
Most of the pulling I do is under 7000# so has anyone done any hill towing with their ECO boost? I am strongly considering this truck after this test drive, but I want some first hand experiences with it before I take the leap.

What weight would you be towing? Ecoboost is nice, and its a showpiece for Ford right now but I wouldn't use it for a tow vehicle towing a lot of weight. I also wouldn't buy a Ford diesel unless its an old 7.3, but being a mechanic I'm a bit biased.
Go look at a Ram with a Cummins.

Have you done your homework on the 6.7L? The 6.7 Is a damn good motor and seems to be resetting the market for the Ford diesel trucks, and its also made by Ford as well. I am just up in the air right now about what model to get, as stated above I really don't haul an more then 7000lbs, but I want a truck that can haul it with ease.

If it don't blow black, take it back!

A turbo V6 gas engine will struggle with 7000lbs I'm sure, a diesel is what you need IMO. I wasn't sure what 7000# meant, that's why I asked, lol.
6.0, 6.4, 6.7, they all look good on paper-especially when new, the problems don't arise until they're a few years old and have logged some miles, I'd go with a solid, reliable performer to start with, Ford has lost a ton of credibility with their trucks, the die-hards and Ford workers will never admit it, but think about all the issues they have.

I remember watching this awhile back

As far as pulling the 7000#, the Eco boost will pull it fine. My buddy pulls a 26' enclosed, with his race car and junk in it, BUT do not believe the fuel mileage claim. It gets total **** for fuel mileage, even empty, but especially towing. With the trailer on it, the ecoboost is always making boost, and gets about 7-8 MPG........literall. While its a neat concept, I wouldn't get one.

Ive put 7,000 behind a 3v f150. I imagine the eco boost would do that pretty easily. Aren't they rated for 10 or so?
Amateur. My boat is up around the 8500# mark, and I drag it wit the '01 2V F150.

I live in a mountainous region so power is a necessity when I pull my tractor and car around I may just end up with a diesel this time.

There isn't really a "claim" anymore on fuel consumption. Its all EPA regulated, they make the numbers.

I obviously don't have an ecoboost, but I know a few people that do, and they all say the fuel economy sucks, especially loaded, which there are no published numbers for anyways. One of my friends just sold his and bought a new truck with the 5.0, just because it used so much gas while towing.

Maybe loaded to the gills? My friend bought an 11 as soon as they dropped. We drove it to NC from Fl and it got around 24 mpg. I road in that truck a lot and still do. Gets 21 mpg in the city. It's tuned now, didn't make a diff. It is obviously worse at WOT now. It's a 13 sec truck on a warm night which is awesome. It got 12 mpg towing about 12,000 lbs to Georgia the last time we took it to lights out.

God damn....maybe Jesse got a lemon, but that **** sucks. I talked to a guy at the track the other night that has one with. 6.5" lift and 35s, and he said he got 9 mpg driving to Arizona last month.....UNLOADED. LOL
I don't know how some people do it, but I know a few people that just get awful mpg.

My mom is a super timid driver, but only gets 19 mpg out of her c300 (3.0) 7 speed Mercedes. I borrowed her car for a week and with normal driving of basically the same roads she drives on, I saw 28mpg.

Lol, Idk why people do stuff like that... Is your friends an 11? The 11's had tonnnnns of problems. Pretty sure Ford suggests owners bring them in for a retune as well as a plug change. The inter coolers fill up with water easily too. My friend has close to 40k on his truck as we/he use it for work all the time. Like I said it is rarely used for towing.

It did have an issue not to long ago. It would clunk coming to a stop. We greased the carrier bearing on the ds with marine grease of some sort. Worked awesome. It's run 13.7. It needs a dyno tune though. Has a catless ypipe and full exhaust from stainless works.
