A few days ago, my battery was dead on my 2006 GT mustang. I looked at the battery an noticed corrosion on the positive post and terminal. I clean them both very well. Car radio turned on, but not enough juice to start car. So, i used my wife car to jump start it. Within seconds the stang started right up. I drove to work which is a 20min drive. After, being at work for 10 mins, I needed to move my car to another location. The battery was dead again. Luckily, I had someone jump it. Took a little longer to start. About two hrs after that I needed to more my car again. The battery was dead still. So, I got my boss to jump me it start right up. A couple more hrs later I went to see if it would start and it was dead again. So, i gave up. About an hour before getting off work, I walked over to my car and prayed to god that it would start. I jumped in the car and it finally started on its own. I let it run for about 5mins. When it was time to go home it started back up and ran fine.

The next day....
I go out to my car an it starts right up fine for two seconds then it dies. I was thinking wtf. I started it again it tries to die again, but this time i give it gas. The car shakes a little fighting to stay running. After giving it gas it idles normal. It has been doing this for three days now. When the motor is at normal temp it starts up and runs normal throughout the day. It only does this after sitting overnight or after a few hrs of sitting. Someone please give me some advice. Is the battery doing this?

i had the issue every time i disconnect my battery and i start up my car it seems to not idle and dies even when im driving and come to a syop it dies again!! anyway what i did is let the car idle sit 10 min and 5 min with ac, i have a tune in my car and people on the fourms said it has to relearn the idle ect so after all that sitting it works like new again. try it.

Crackpot. The first day, i drove it for twenty mins before shutting off. That should had been plenty. Then later on that night it started right up with no issues. The next day the battery wasn't dead either, but for some reason i have this other issue keeping it running on first start of the day.

Today, I went off to my car and turned the key a few times before start. It started up an try to die like before, but this time it stumbled then stayed on. I didnt have to restart this time or give it gas. I'm not sure if priming helped or not. I was trying to see if fuel pump is bad.

Wish, someone could give me some ideas here. Today, I had auto-zone check for codes, battery test, and alternator. No codes, battery 580 CCA, Aternator 14.6. Auto-zone said, everything looked good. Still no luck on the problem.

I thought I smelt a weird smell after it idle and didnt die. I was in walmart parking lot. So, not sure if it was my car. I thought it smelled kinda like gas, but I'm not sure.

This morning, I had to restart three times to get it to run. While it was idling, I jumped out of car to see if there was smoke, the left tail pipe had a small amount of white smoke. P.s when the car was stumbling to idling I have my hand on shifter. I could feel something rough coming from the engine through the shifter. After, it idles normally it goes away.

94racing thanks for input. This After noon, I charged battery up. Not sure how to check fuel pressure. However, I did change fuel filter today. Gas sprayed every where. Some gas got on my shirt and a drop a sand. Also, I added Lucas injection cleaner. Check hoses for vacuum leak?? PR??

08mustangGTNick, hope the ditch didn't mess anything up, when that happen to you. I took my CAI apart and re-put it back together tightly. Now, I just have to let the car sit and see if anything changes in the morning. I really hope that it fires right up in the morning. Thanks for input

Could my throttle body sensor cause this issue? Can it be cleaned? I was going to check it out, but I have the shaker CAI an the housing covers that up. So, Far the housing is hard to remove.

no check engine light. I still had auto-zone look for codes, but non showed up. This was yesterday. The shaker CAI came already installed when I bought it. I looked the cdc shaker up, says no tune require. So, I don't think it needs one.

If it were a vacuum leak wouldn't the problem be more consistent? I only have my problem on the first start up after its been sitting, not while driving. The car has to sit a few hours for me to have an issue when starting. I can drive to the store and it will restart and run normal.

This is a link to a car i found on youtube. Ever since my battery died my rpms do this. On a normal start.

confused too but I have read a leaky injector could bleed fuel down into the cylinder after the car is off, until the fuel rail pressure goes to zero. I assume this would cause a hard start until fuel pressure comes back up on startup and the cylinder with the leaky injector will have to clear before it runs on that cylinder again. Smell the dipstick..does the oil smell contaminated with fuel?

Also I've read that these cars have weak alternators that cause bizzare problems when going bad. A dead battery would cause the alternator to work very hard recharging the battery, possibly taking out a dying alternator.

my guess would be a injector/seat, its leaking down into your cylinder and flooding your car, which wont let it start, once you have tried to start it a few times, it burns off the excises fuel and is able to start. and this is the reason you can re-start on short trips, because it has not had time to put enough fuel in the cylinder to cause the problem.

GatorHunter & Boomer9999...
That sounds about right. I forgot to say that I changed my oil yesterday. Will it still have the mix smell? Also, will the injection cleaner fix a leaky injector? If not how much to get it tested and fixed?

Do you have a tuner? Can you data log?
