Indeed. I'd walk away for that price with an R title. The vehicles value is cut in half by it. Your bank will not finance a rebuilt vehicle. You were getting a decent deal before. Now that we found out its an R title your getting hosed IMO. I know it's tempting but walk away unless he drops the bottom out of the price. Your basing what was wrong with the car by what the SELLER is telling you.

I don't think anyone on this forum would disagree with my statement or this members.

your dealing with a 5-6k car at best, the seller is taking advantage of you.

even at 5-6k most would still walk away from it, it's not like the car had hail damage, when these cars are hit hard enough to need a k frame, they are generally junk.

I linked this thread to the 99-04 tech section under the title "someone please help this guy"

please check it out o/p

If a car has a rebuilt title, I just move on to the next one because it's usually not worth the hassle. I only look if he's asking dirt cheap, which you seller is not...

Picking it up tomorrow. Found our why it has an r title. The owner took it down a bank and it messed up the right a arm, k member and some body panels on the passenger side. New k membwr / front suspension. Everything drives straight and was professionally repaired. On the test drive we noticed a squeaking in the rear, thought it was the brakes. He checked into it today said the axle was slightly bent. So he replaced it. Its a very solid car in great shape. 3 month/ 3k mile warranty. He also said if anything goes wrong with the stuff that was replaced it would be taken care of even after the warranty was up
Like others have said, you need to GTFO now.
This car is not worth anywhere near the value he has it for. Of course he's going to replace the rear end and the a arm and whatever else is messed up right now because he knows how die hard you are about wanting it.
If you can't get him down to below, 5k(and be prepared to check the frame and see if it's been tweaked), leave it alone, find another car. No point in getting a "nice" car to turn around and dump money into it to fix things that were fixed in a hurry to flip a car that was obviously not advertised as a rebuilt title.

After looking it over, I can honestly tell you that a year and a half before I bought my 2v I was looking at this EXACT car at bill fox's. Same mileage same price, it's the same car. This car has been sitting their for a long time. I live in dover, I know bill and his daughter in person, but I really wouldn't pay that much for that car. It has sat there wayyyy too long. It does have some goodies on it, bassani exhaust with a high flow catted x pipe, but not worth that price tag. There's lots of other rides out there that you can afford, shoot me a pm I might be able to track one down for you. There's a garage down in felton that does the same thing, you might be able to get something decent from him. He doesnt rip people off, very reasonable.

13k for a rebuilt Mach 1? I got a bridge I'll sell you. You are being raped and taken advantage of. Does the bank or insurance know? I bet the bank will renig the loan when they they see the title. I get you want a mach but damn don't go full window licker. Slowly put your helmet on and rethink this. Aka run away from this

Nothing wrong with a rebuilt title vehicle as long as they are built right. Every vehicle I've own has a rebuilt title but I rebuilt them myself which is why I have 4000 in my car. Rebuilt title does decrease the value but my 04 gt was still valued at 8500 by the bank but mine only has 35k miles. Around here banks still loan on rebuilt titles, the car is still good for around 9500 but his price is outrageously high IMO.

WALK AWAY! R titles devalue the car by 40-60%. A lot of insurance companies won't even insure cars(full coverage) with title issues. This is mainly on salavged titles but rare cases on rebuilt titles.

Run away!

Just curious where your getting your values. Just seems high to me.
Maybe if it had low miles on it. No personal attack just curious. Maybe I'm way off. I'd be interested under 7 for the Mach 1.

Holy **** no. No no no.

No.

Just don't.

Seriously. Walk away.

Dear God no.

You could not make it through the first test drive without finding problems on a significant part of the car. Combine that with the sellers quick response to replace at no argument.... What else is waiting to raise its ugly head 3months after you buy it.

Take it to a third party mechanic and have them look it over. Then halve the price and start haggling from there. If you are not willing to do that then post your bank account number on the web ...same as buying that risky deal.

Even if the finance company issues the loan, 5 minutes later you will be in way over your head. If you are paying what sounds like close to book value of a clear title vehicle, the moment you sign those papers you will be throwing away thousands just because of an r-title. Resale value on you end will be gone. You will be stuck. That may be ok if you plan to keep this car for years but like most are saying dont do it. Don't make an emotional decision. You never know what might happen 2 years from now and you need out. Think about it. Consider what we are all saying. Women, statistically, are 80% of the decision when buying a car. If you're married, take your wife. If you aren't married, take you're mother. They will both say no. Cars are financially a bad investment. Rebuilt titled vehicles for clean title prices is a no brainer. Don't do it

Btw... If you do decide to buy. Make sure you get something in writing and signed stating that he said he would repair the vehicle after the 3mo warranty.

Oh and if you really want your jaw to drop...... Ask him to see the invoice ( what he bought it for plus maint and light bill ) and tell him you need to see it make a fair deal. This may or may not work. Prob won't work but I guarantee if you see it, you will see he bought it for nothing and he will be making a few thousand from you. Try it out.

Scum bag shady ass seller. Anytime you see a used muscle car at an independant corner used car lot, warning alarms should go off. Danger! Danger! Danger!

I would only buy a used mustang from a Ford dealer or similar OEM dealer or a private seller who was the original owner and had a mountain of paper work to verify the history of the car.

If you dont take that Mach back to to that shady used car lot, you are a stupid mother ****er. Good luck!
