Car parked for winter didnt pull the battery like an idiot, jumped it and let it run. Two weeks later it is dead again... think the battery is fried, this will be the third one, going to go with optima I think, red or yellow top?

Had 3 optima Reds over one year...Optima = junk

I've got a parts store special in mine, but I'd throw a motorcraft in it if I could go back in time. Lots of faith in them. You can usually get deals on them through quicklane at your dealer. If you keep your eyes out, you can get them for about the same price as the cheap parts store batteries with a 3 year warranty (free replacement) and 100 months prorated.

Exactly. I'm running a "Autocraft Gold" in mine. Holding up pretty good for me.

my oem battery that's almost ten years old is still going strong... knock on wood

Also, bumped my idle speed up to 800ish, helped driveability a TON. I was getting a bit of bucking on the low end with my race tune, just in parking lots and stuff, and bumping the idle solved it, and helped it not feel like it bogged, or loaded the engine off the line in normal-ish driving. I also upped the rev limiter to 6800. I thought that's what it was set at, turns out it was 6400?? I don't shift that high very often, and when I do I usually shift at what I thought was 6500. Was probably shifting right on the limiter, now I have a bit of room for error.

Am I the only one who feel like my car runs like a raped ape the first few miles a tune is loaded, then it tames down a bit? could this be because adaptive learning or whatever it's called is enabled? can I un-enable it? Gonna order a "hybrid" tune from Bama for shits n giggles, so I have something to do to my car when I get her back, should be going into the bodyshop again tomorrow morning. So much for ever selling this ****ing car, now that it's been in two wrecks.

So I kinda want to buy a short block this summer and tinker with it for awhile and see what I can build.

Do it! Once I have a place with a garage I'd like to do the same. You can build it as you go, a few bucks at a time.

No I feel the exact same way, I almost want just just reload my tune every week because it feels so much better at first, I've never figured out why though

Take off your negative battery cable for 15 minutes to erase the KAM. Once the car learns to idle and regulate throttle and fuel with the new tune it smooths out the rough edges. That driving like a "raped ape" is really just driving with a tune that's rough around the edges.

It's much more fun either way :) haha

Lol so I hate to complain about sellers on s197 AGAIN, but I payed this guy for mirror covers over a week ago, said he'd have them shipped out Friday morning... PM'd him yesterday morning to see if he had a tracking number, no reply so far, so it's been over a week since buying them with no shipping confirmation... Annoying :p

There are five vehicles in the house hold, every one of them has an Optima yellow top without any problems. The Mustang has a minder attached because is not DD. The average age for the batteries is about 5 yrs old. I will keep using Optima, no problems so far.

My ford battery died after 3 years to the month of buying it. Bought a gold series duralast at autozone, 3 years to the month it died again. Free replacement last summer since it has a 5 year warranty. We had a couple summers here with multiple 100+ degree days so I assume that is my battery killer. I type that and my wife has had the same Interstate battery in her car for going on 7-8 years at this point and never an issue.

My 2010 mustang still has the stock battery in it. Car in 2 more months will be 5 years old. Planning to drop in my xs power d3400 though, but terminals are on the back of the battery from my ranger and I will need to re wire.
