That is strange, ive heard of aftermarket CAIs causing this to happen when coming down in rpm. Idk man, possible MAF issues maybe? Maybe clean it and see if that helps. Also if you have a tuner you could datalog it and see if anything looks strange, or if you dont have a tuner get one, tune it and see if that help lol.

 

Could be a fuel problem id try the fuel rail pressure sensor.

 

Could be MAF, IAC, or a fuel issue. I would try cleaning the MAF and IAC first.

 

We cleaned both about a week ago and it did the same thing again shortly after. wouldnt think i would be having a bad pump already. But i never know, I can look at the pressure and see how thats looking, other than that im stumped.

 

Could also be electrical, if you had a short in your COP harness it could contact your valve cover and ground just for a split second and kill all your coils enough to make it die, then it would crank back up. Idk, thats kind of a far guess but its fuel or fire most likely.

Edit:...that would probably throw a CEL though...hmm. Youre stumping everyone man lol, i would still check the boots on the COPs just to make sure its all gravy and rule it out.

Datalogging would help, see what statistic goes out of wack just before the stall.

 

Its totally unpredicatable and wouldnt be easy to logg data before the engine cuts out. il give the cops a look over and make sure there all connected and theres no visable cuts in the wire. other than that i can put a new fuel pressure sensor from my cobra on it and see if that solves the problem.

 

My buddys mach doed this as well we tried everything stated above and Nadda he had to rev and catch the brakes sonetimes or it'll die

 

Does the cai still have the screen in front of the maf? I took mine out, and it would do that. Put it back in, and it quit.

Ok guys so the screen is definitely missing, went to napa and they said they didnt come stock with the screens, im like i know they did, and they cant find one. Anyone know where i can buy this screen at?, maybe put a link on here or if someone has one laying around il give you some money for it. I just need one fast because my brother is driving the car and its scary to think it could cause a wreck.

My Mach 1 did the same thing. It is the IAC

 

Did u fix it? buddy's 03 mach 1 5 speed push clutch in at highway speeds and car dies. told him to put screen problem fixed. could also be iac try cleaning. every thing i have seen is where its the screen is taken out and the turbulence causes the car to die.
