So as I stated in the daily thread. I finally motivated myself to do what I've been wanting to do for a while. Coat my own car. The car had hydro2 on it from testing with the last wash and was great but it was time to play with some new coatings.

Coatings Used:
Opti-Lens (Headlight/Tailight Permanent~)
Fly By 30 (Glass minimum of 8 months)
Cquartz UK (Paint 2~ years)

To start it off:
Used 1z Colortec on wheels
Washed with CG Red Citrus Wash 3~ oz to 3.5~ gallons of water
While wet, sprayed car with IronX and had little to no effect (better safe than sorry)
While wet sprayed with UWW+ and clay'd using nanoskin fine pad
Rinsed off

Today I decided was the day to get to it. In order to apply the coating I wanted to make sure all the surfaces were defect free.

I used:
HD Cut on BnS MF Finishing Pad on Rupes 21 Speed 5
HD Polish on BnS Black Foam Finishing Pad on Rupes 21 Speed 3.5
Rupes Blue Pad on LHR75 with HD Cut
Rupes White Pad on LHR75 with HD Polish
Carpro Glass Pad with Ceriglass (never again) then switched to HD Cut to remove glass defects.

After compounding and polishing the entire car I did an eraser wipedown. Necessary and recommended by Carpro to remove any oils/grease to help allow proper adhesion from their coating.

Coated all of the glass using Fly By 30 glass coating from Carpro. Lasts 8+ months. After coating was applied the glass was heated up to 80 degree's with a heat gun and a laser thermostat to properly "bake" the coating onto the glass.

The headlight and tailights were coated with Opti-lens after a quick polish to remove any defects.

The front bumper was left uncoated because it was recently painted and will Cquartz will not allow the paint to gas properly. Opti-coat will so that may very well be added.

After 2 steps:

Applied the coating per instructions from Corey (Carpro distributor) and it looked awesome. Love the gloss it adds and it was easy to work with. Also applied Carpro Reload about an hour after applying the coating to prevent any water spots until Cquartz UK is fully cured.

Didn't take much product to coat the car either sorry for the missed focus but you can see the blue bottle is UK and the clear bottle is Fly By 30. Those are after I applied the coatings:

Here's a "How to" apply Cquartz UK following the instruction I was given by Carpro:

Thanks for looking!

I've actually applied opti-pro to it. Opti-coat will allow the paint to gas where as other coatings like 22ple, cquartz, gtechniq, will not.

My grandpa is absolutely amazing at painting. No orange peel but I know for a fact there is a good amount of clear on it. Had to repaint. This front bumper used to be green, then red, now screaming yellow!

Thanks!

I looked into that fly by 30 but the install processes seemed way to much of a pita compared to others. The GTechniq G1 was easy or if went with G5 it's even easier but only 6 month vs 2years
Yeah, the sheeting should be different on the two though but we shall see. I haven't used g1 glass but I will tell you I'll go through the pita install if it sheets water while driving better. Aquapel sheets A LOT better than opt-glass pro for example.

Nice thanks for sharing I am sure it will hold up for over a year. I had the first version of Cquartz that Carpro came up with a few years ago, applied to my girlfriends Scion TC and it lasted 14 months before it failed. Washes were around every month or so, not near as often I wanted but I did it when time was available. Reload was applied only twice in the 14 months that I had it on. I have to say it held up well through for the first year beading and sheeting was always evident when it was washed or would rain. The last two months was when I could tell that the protection started to fade. It now only has Wolf Chemicals Shine & Seal I am going to apply 2 coats the Bodywrap to it next week after the wash since I still have about a 1/4 of the bottle left. I have seen good protection with Bodywrap for at least 8 to 9 month when I had it on the Mach 1 before it started to fail. As for the Mach 1 I am going to go over it with the Rupes LHR15ES and some uber blues with Scholl Concepts S40 then apply 22ple Professional to it. I still have around 75% of the 50ml bottle left that I have yet to use. It is by far the easiest coating I have applied when compared to Cquartz, Bodywrap and Opticoat V2. When you get a chance you should try it out. I have really liked applying and testing the coatings that have come out these past years. I hope you will keep us updated on how it holds up. How do you like the LHR75 I have been undecided on whether to pick that up or just order the mini groits, I have my air compressor so for me its just about justifying the price for it over the mini griots
Thanks man, no problem. That's good to hear. Cquartz UK is supposed to be a tad easier to use and deals with colder application a little better and is supposed to add more gloss than cquartz.

I've used Opti-pro, opti-v2, 22ple, cquartz uk and gloss/lens coatings. 22ple is stupid easy to use. Cquartz uk was as well.

I absolutely love my lhr75. I have never used a gg 3" but I'd buy this rupes over and over and over. Love the thing to death and if you don't have to buy an air compressor it's a must IMO. I wish you were around here, I'd let you use it so you don't spend your money on something you may not love but it's 100x better than putting a 3" bp on a gg 6".

Im either going with G1 or Carpro reload for my glass. The only reason im considering going with reload is that im gonna get it anyway to top the coating i choose. But g1 is pretty cheap and lasts so i may get that, we will see.

Still deciding on what coating to throw on my vehicles, Im leaning toward CQuk topped with Reload since the application on both is very easy and reload is a really versatile product.

G5 is only a tad more at DC price over G1. G5 is a 100ml vs 15ml G1. 1 last longer but G5 will give you 6months of durability and you will have a TON left over to do the car many times. If i woulda realized G5 was so cheap at time I was in store buying I thought it was like double price I would have purchased it. As its a more bang for buck easier to apply and almost same price. reload does a good job on windows at first with beading and sheeting but the wipers wear it fast. I was using that alot in the beginning if you see a decent amount of rain you will probably get 2weeks before you see it start to fade
