Affordable turbo kit???

Been toying around with putting a turbo on the 2010 instead of a nitrous kit. I've been looking around but all I seem to find is kits that support like 700rwhp and go for as much as a supercharger.
Is there an affordable turbo kit out there? Something in the 2-3k range?? I'm really only looking to add 100rwhp to my stang. It's an everyday driver and I'd be super happy with over 450rwhp so 100rwhp would be great for me. I'd prefer it be a kit with an intercooler as I'd rather just be on the safe side.

No not staying n/a. I am trying to hit 400rwhp n/a in the 4.6 though, more or less just to say I did it. With a new Intake manifold I should be in the 410 range. But I'm gonna put on the new intake the same time I do the nitrous/turbo/supercharger....Looking like a nitrous kit for right now, atleast for the next 5 months or so.

But I see what your saying with the used one. I cant find a good kit anywhere used. Most of the stuff you see is used and abused, or off brand kits to begin with. I'm just not willing to sleep on the coach for the next 5 months for a 5k investment lol. Maybe once I get my bonus next year I'll go ahead and slap on a supercharger since they run the same as a turbo kit.

This makes no sense to me considering turbos are more efficient and thus tend to make more power at the same boost level. Either route you go, I'm sure you can find a good used kit for much less than 5k. Just my .02

Ive had a couple turbo kits for a couple different cars and ive learned some very valuable lessons.

1) Dont build custom your first time around
2) Cutting corners will only bite you in the ass
3) You get what you pay for and you may still pay for it later
4) Lots of boost is fun till your stock motor breaks, and Nitrous is a drug
5) Tune it! Tune it! Tune it!

Once you have learned to tame the beast, you will LOVE turbos.

Lol thanks everyone.
I'm sure turbo does make more power but I like the superchargers as its power on demand...no turbo lag.
I agree nitrous is a drug.....put it to the nova and loved it. Only thing I didnt love was having to refill the bottle every other day lmao.

Ok so don’t get me wrong I’m not "just another Turbo fan", but turbo lag is a excaudated stereotype that needs to be put to bed.

Yes ALL Turbos have lag. That’s just the fact of life. It’s Not ran off the crank like a supercharger so therefore will need time spool.

But how much time? For old Turbos from 7 years ago it could take some time and therefore I can completely see how the stereotype was started.

Turbos now a days are extremely efficient. So if you set goals of what you want your car to do and purchase the Turbo kit with those goals in mind, don’t cut corners, and Tune it correctly; you will experience very little turbo lag.

Last thought. So let’s say you have a nice turbo on your very powerful 600+rwhp stang and you’re in a stop light race or at the tree. You will need about 1500-2500 rpms to ease the power into your wheels to hook up correctly. Most efficient turbos will see close to 70% of boost in just 1500-2000 rpms from a stop. So power is eased to the wheels and full boost is reached around 3000 rpms and you have another 4000 rps of complete boost that IS more efficient then street super chargers. And in-between gears you will only see at the most 15% loss in boost for a split second between gears and that’s if you don’t power shift. And if you’re on the highway at 120mph+, your supercharger chokes on blood and that turbo begins to sing.

Lol nice analogy there..."chockes on blood and that turbo begins to sing" lol. Nicely put.
I guess I see how that makes sense. I'm still on the fence about it. But for now I'm going with the gojuice.
I'm sure I'm gonna hear a bunch of negative stuff about nitrous now... usually do anyway....seems I find myself explaining nitrous to defend it more then I actually use it lol.
That will give me some time to save up and make my decision from there. I have a good 6 months to a year before I actually drop the cash on a turbo or supercharger.

Lol I'll try too. I'm only going to run a 100hp shot so no worries. I see we have another "car-steroids" hater among us though. I dont see what people dont like about nitrous....besides having to refill the bottle. It's just as safe as a turbo or a supercharger...and in some cases safer. With all the goodies its nearly impossible to damage your motor with nitrous. If your car is tuned for it, and your running a stage colder plugs your fine. With all the new goodies these days the car has to be in a preset window of rpm, at wot, have the right fuel pressure, and the new systems regulate the nitrous so it doesnt ruch lean or rich.....and after all that your only using it every now and again where-as a turbo or supercharger is always feeding your motor forced induction.....turbo, supercharger, and nitrous all act the same way and do the same thing in the combustion chamber...only the method of delivery is different.....and not to mention nitrous enters the combustion chamber much cooler....making it more efficient then the other methods. Heck they even have chips now when your nitrous solenoid is activated it retards your timing the correct amount then when its off it returns your timing back to normal for cruising when the juice is off........Pretty good crap if you ask me.
