I'm going to put new headers on a 1990 mustang gt but I'd want to know which brand is good and reliable

I have jba on mine...... They were on my car when I bought in back in 1998, and they are still in great shape. They are the only ones ive ever had so I have nothing to compare it to, but they seem to be high quality.

Not sure about shorties, but I believe I have some knockoff eBay longtubes on mine seeing no stamps or name on them. They have a nice thick flange, bolt right up to flanges and have notches for easy access to the header studs.

It's actually 1 to 2 hp over 4k. They are a very bad idea, I don't care who's brand they are, equal length shorty headers suck.
MAC are fine. I have installed them for 15 years, they fit and work fine. I've taken them off and put them back on after years of use with no issues. Most people just don't have the knowledge of how to get things on and off without issues, so they post all over the internet blasting a brand because they have issues with it, when in reality, they just lack the experience to handle them. The easier to work with products usually get better ratings online, doesn't mean they are better, just easier for a beginner to work with sometimes.
Not bashing anyone in this thread, just saying I don't see much difference in headers from an experienced installer point of view. They all have their drawbacks and bonuses. I ran MAC ceramic 1 3/4" shorty headers on my race car for years, and they still look nice and I've had them on and off a dozen times with no issues.
Bottom line, buy what you think looks nice and can afford. Remember, cheaper is not usually better.

You can't go wrong with the Ford Racing shorties. I've had a set of ceramic coated ones for years. I've also ran MAC's for many years without any problems.

I love me BBK equal length shorties and BBK off road h pipe just so you know when you do shortie headers make sure you're steering shaft doesn't hit bottom off header if it does you will need replace motor mounts. I had the mounts all the way up and still the header hit a little on the steering shaft just enough to rest on it so I had to buy new ones. After I did I had my motor mounts 1/4 way up with plenty room those old mounts like to sag, the fun part is the passenger side have to get that motor high in air on that side to drop the header in

BBK's, both long & shorty headers used here; love 'em for the great fit & finish. If i were to go with a set of shorty's for GT40 heads; FRPP stainless would be the way I'd go. I installed a set on a friend of mine's car & the quality was "par-none". I stay away from Mac & other individual port flange headers only due to their "moving" after removal; I had to drill out the individual port flange bolt mounting holes to get everything to line back up again. A real pain in the butinski reinstalling them. Get anything with a one piece flange to make your life easier IMHO....
