thus far I have full bolt on's except longtubes.
I have 4.10's ( need to change for turbo)

The v3 seems nice but extremely quiet which kinda blows ass having a blower and not hearing it.

the on3 well seems hit or miss with custotmer service and v band clamps.

any input

car is 5 speed. 1999 gt

its not that quiet, I run a v3-si trim with a big red race valve its not quiet at idle or dd'n at low rpm's, wanna soundclip? Also made excellent numbers on mine and automatic+stalled only on 10psi as well stock 3.6" pulley.

If I did it again I would go turbo. To be honest my d1 whistle gets old after awhile

I'm running a D1 and don't have a huge whistle. You can faintly hear it when it is at idle but bnot enough to get anoyed. When you hit WOT then you can hear that thing go crazy but not much until then. What pulley are you running? 4"?

Even after a few 2000mile rountrips around in the states and a bit of riding around town with my v1 to me the "whistle" hasn't gotten old at all after the past couple of years. and I may be wrong but doesnt a turbo whislte also just no much so at idle compared to a centri?

I just hate it if I get out of the car an let it run there no way ur talking by it But I'm guessing my d1 louder since its a bigger blower could be wrong.
Don't get me wrong I love having it on the car. Boost is amazing! But the tq for a turbo I think would be amazing to have

Have you not seen the reviews of on3 lately I would go boost brothers for turbo setup.

But I personally Like the sound of a good vortech

All this is strictly opinion no personal experiences.

Sent from somewhere in the world other than home.

I have 3100 in to my kit but I got a steal on it. I bought mine used form a shop kit had 2000 miles on it. Guy was switch to turbo. I got d1 power pipe sheetmetal 3 core ic 8 rib kit hi tech stage 2 blower cams mondo bypass sct2800 mass air n 60 injector every bolt

If you do end up going on3 I would just get the kit, NOTHING extra. I know it's cheap money wise but depending on what else you need it REALLY adds up, so in a sense it's the same as a vortech kit. K-member, injectors, maf, fuel pump, and an upgranded turbo (not a must but most will say highly recommended

Pd is kenne bell, whipple, eaton, saleen, roushe, magnacharger, tvs, ect

Depends though. Your top fuel are pd but a totally different animal. Turbos are coming into the drag scene more and more now

Everyone is correct. But, if you are running a stock bottom then, in my opinion, either a turbo or centri is the best option because of the high end power and less low end torque. I was surprised at your options. A V3 (perhaps non-intercooled) and a turbo. What about a ProCharger? Vortech's only appear to be less expensive because they do not have an intercooler. You can get a complete ProCharger kit for around $4,000 new. Used are less expensive.

Shelbydog, just bought a complete new kit for $4,000. That included fuel injectors, intercooler, chip, and fuel pump. Of course that is more than a non-intercooled Vortech tuner kit which doesn't have everything. But, you get what you pay for. I paid $4500 for a brand new 3 core system. The kit had everything except spark plugs. I didn't need to buy anything else. Most people who want to upgrade the Vortech to an intercooled systems need to buy the intercooler, additional piping, MAF, and of course get a new tune. That is a lot of additional cost.

Vortech's are not less expensive.

Are you saying you wouldn't run procharger unless its a D1 sc?

#32 ·
I didn't buy it. Shelbydog did. I bought my ProCharger a few years ago.

Yes, it is almost monthly. And all of the Vortech drivers want to compare apples to oranges.

Edit: You do realize that ProCharger doesn't allow price competition between dealers, but if you actually call a dealer you will get substantial discounts over list. If I remember correctly, I got a $700 discount just by calling. That was well below their advertised price.

procharger is nice but they are much more expensive.
A non intercooled V3 tuner kit is 2700
389 for maf
269 for injectors
I have fuel pump already
400-500 tune
$3358 without a tune
$3858 with a tune..

even if i got a procharger kit complete I would get a custom tune.
4500+500
is $5000 for a car that isnt that obnoxiously fast :lol

#35 ·
$3358 without an intercooler and you already had a $200 fuel pump. $4,000 with everything. It depends on what you want. I will gaurantee this: with the re-piping and the re-tune you will spend more for the "cheap" Vortech system than a ProCharger...
but, not everyone has the up-front money so the Vortech is a good deal.

man your in virginia it dont get that hot I ran my v3 non intercooled for awhile your still gonna double your hp, then just save for a intercooler set-up if you cant swing it all right now like I did.

#41 ·
Agreed and if you are in Maryland and the Op is in Virginia the weather can't be that different one state down. I also say run that thing and intercool it later just dont go hot lapping it at the track hell I say dont do that with or without an intercooler.

i just added it up 1170 bucks for a nx plate kit/purge/window switch/bottle heater

only issue is constantly filling it and not to street legal..plus its only fast on bottle

and VA gets humid as piss :lol
