difference between 2010 and the 2005-2009 GT's

I recently bought a 2010 GT and I am noticing that i seem to have purchased an "in-between" model. Most of the After market parts are categorized 2005-2009 and 2011-2013. are there a lot of difference from the 2009 to the 2010 models? can some of these after market parts cross over between the 2 years? they are both 4.6L V8's

any info greatly appreciated

i wouldn't waste my money on a bbk cai. get a C&L or a JLT cai. i like both body styles although i'd never buy a '10. what's the point in trading mine for basically the same car. would have to be an '11+ or a GT500 of either design.

i've never heard them called port holes before and don't really agree that they don't look good.

^THIS

I have seen some reviews with back to back comparisons, and the BBK is almost the worst performer out there. For the money you are almost better off with the stock intake not shelling out any money. The BBK is that bad.

The JLT and C&L on the other hand, rock. Also stay miles away from the K&N.

Suspension is compatible with the 05-09's, 2011 had a few minor (but significant enough to warrant their own aftermarket parts) tweaks in the front suspension, the rear is the same though. The front suspension in 2010 has beefier spindles (as used in all 2011+ cars as well) with the new fine thread strut to spindle bolts, same lower control arm and ball joints IIRC. The strut body and shaft is the same as the 05-09's though. In 2011 they changed the strut mount tops to suck less... they succeeded in making them suck less, but they still suck! :)

The Charge Motion plates are built into the intake manifold. To delete them (common mod for the 1/4 milers) you either get plugs welded in the holes from deleting them or you get an 05-08 Intake Manifold and delete plates or you replace the entire intake manifold with one from the aftermarket that does not have the Charge Motion Plates. Spark plugs are different after 09 as well but that's been covered.

Ohh, yes, ugly taillights, I have a cure that makes them better looking:

Tint those suckers, and I mean the reverse lights, heavily, but leave the reds lighter. Looks so much better than stock!

I had an 08 gt and recently sold it and got a good deal on a 10 gt (both premium verts). I think the 10 is better and more refined in every way. The interior is quieter and the Tremec shifter is very nice. I stumbled across this article when I was doing some researching. Points out the main changes to the 2010. And I dig the body style a lot. Very happy with mine.

not saying you personally are dumb, but this statement is absolutely dumb. pretty much any car out there are the same thing other than bumpers, hood, & small details. ranging from V6 to the top of the line bad ass they are all the same car. doesn't matter if you're talking about a mustang, camero, jeep, whatever. they all start from the same thing

Wow! This thread is rediculous. Just enjoy your own car and stop bashing something you don't have whether you want it or can't stand it. Let's at least hang together and start bashing the Camaro or something if you just can't contain any negative thoughts.

OP, as stated, basically the exterior parts from a 2011-12 will work on these and the performance parts (except CAIs) from the 05-09s work on them. Interior is same as 2011-2012, so just figure out what type of part you're looking for and you'll find it under one of those sections if the company your researching doesn't have a specific 2010 section.

lol  didn't feel like getting deep into an argument...anyhow stock for stock I feel like the 10+ is the better looking body style. When side by side with a 2010+ the 05-09's just look plane which is where I was going with why you have you're mods. Thanks for calling me out with your moderator powers buthole! :swordfight:

No offense, but I think a lot of 2010 owners were pretty pissed when the 2011 dropped. I was looking at Camaro's and Challengers during 2010 but when the 2011 dropped, I immediately ran back to Ford. And yeah a 2010 is like stuck in that 05-09 and the 11+ gap. Has that newer body but that same 4.6 V8.

lmao at all the arguing, in my opinion they are both nasty looking cars. But in their different ways. The 05-09s remind me more of the original mustangs, where as the 2010-2012 have a more pissed off look to the fronts. This is my opinion, but the ass ends of the 2010+ are hideous. Why ruin something that was so beautiful to begin with? And whats with the damn curve on the tails? Is there a point to that besides to ruin the look of them? Again dont take offense to what ive said, just stating my opinion.

06Greenmachine, I have to agree with you on the tail of the '10 -12's. From the rear wheel opening forward I think the my car is better looking the the 05-09's and the interior is much nicer. But from the rear its no contest the 05-09s are much nicer. If there was a way to graft the earlier rear on to my car I would in a second.

dude those aren't the same cars. you said a GT500 was just a V6 w/ a body kit basically. until of course the 2010 GT500 came out. how is a 2010 GT500 any different than a 07-09 GT500. all the levels of the car are the same from a V6 to a GT500. the only differences are the bumpers, hood, and minor things. you can't go from saying that a GT500 is pretty much nothing special till the 2010 came out and then try to justify your statement by saying different cars all together should be in the same type of comparison. if you're talking about individually sure they are totally different when talking about the levels of each individual car (which is what you were talking about before).

hmmm 07-09 GT500.....

very different facia's vs. the V6 or GT.....check
very different hood vs. the v6 or GT.......yep again check
yep hid's were an option also (don't think they were on 07 though)

really not bashing you for liking your years body style better, but i can see in any car that there is absolutely a difference in the base vs high levels. take the 99-04 cars for example. do you also think the base V6 is pretty much the same as the cobra. i certainly doubt you do because like most every other car they are totally different.
