Hey there just did a GT Gauge cluster swp on my 01 mustang, its actualy very easy, saves money and no need for anti theft disabled, A programer will be needed to recalibrate speedo,
The ANTI THFT is built into your cluster, the instrument panel works the same way as your stock one...no dealer BS required...

All you need is the gt cluster, for all of you that have experience , the basic princeable is to swap your stock v6 circuit board with the one on the gt cluster.

sry i will post pics as soon as posible

YOU WANT A CLEAN WORK AREA.....!!!

1st: DISCONNECT your battery, if you dont ANTI_ THEFT will enable a NO START!!!! if this happens disconnect your battery for 5 mins then reconnect.

2ND:remove your stock cluster, there are two electical connectors , carefully remove.

3rd, remove the rear housing screws on both your stock gauge cluster and the gt cluster, keep all parts seperated... the screws are a small torques style.

4th: Wash your hands, you are dealing with a circuit board!!
remove both white covers and set aside, remove the circuit boards on both clusters, put the gt cluster away or set aside so you dont mix them up, there is a wire ribbon that you have to un plug, be very careful, if it breaks , games over,

5th:Install YOUR circuit board on the GT speedo housing, reinstall the same way as removed, make sure you plug the ribbon back in, once everything is reinstalled, install back in dash the same way as removed,

6: reconnect battery and start, everything should function the same, exept for the speedo will be aprox 10-15 mph off, hince programer is needed... good luck and remember keep everything seperate and CLEAN!!!

Great first post man. So is a custom tune needed to recalibrate the speedo or is there a setting on the tuner that does the trick? I've had my tuner for over a year but never really played with it much although I don't remember seeing anything that I thought would change the speedo without changing something like tire revs/mile or gear ratio.

I'm pretty site the link in my sig has a how to of how to swap a bullet cluster into a GT using the same method as above.

I might have to give this a try and make use of the spare gt cluster that I have.

if you got a smart phone, like android or iphone, easy! download the speed view app, so you have a accurate speed reading, you have to play around with the tire size on the programer to get the cluster calibrated, might take a few trys to get it as close as posible, I did 3.73s with the Cluster swap and my speedo was way of about 20mph at 80mph, so i was reading about 100mph on the cluster... its basicly trial and error, hope that helps

You could also put the cluster in diagnostic mode and get a accurate speed reading on the digital screen where your mileage is shown.

Or you could use the 9V battery method and get the cluster calibrated exactly as it was from the factory.

On second thought that ^^ is only going to work when swapping in a different style of v6 gauges.

If you want a perfectly accurate reading in a v6 car with

Cobra
Gt
Or Mach gauges

You will need to get it programmed at a dealer.

Yeah I don't plan on going over 120 mph either. I think i will stick with my Mach 1 replica gauges.

All your other gauges work the same, me personally I don't mind that my odometer is off a few miles, different motor anyway, its one of those mods that's not for everyone, but I like looking at a 150 speedo vs a 120 :-D

I hate to resurrect an old old thread..but wouldnt this be the same as buying a $20 gauge face kit for a gt then putting them in a v6 cluster and dealing w the speedo however is necessary?
