kinda undecided about just strokein my current block or gettn a whole new one alltogether, and if i was to get a new block how big can i go in order to still retain my other accesorys such as heads ,intake etc
Would I just be able to buy just the block or would l have to buy complete? Is it just the 4.6 stroked with a better block ?If you just want to be able to spray more just change out your rods and pistons, if you want more power off the bottle as well seriously look into your options with a boss 5.0 block
That is some pretty good damn advice, im gonna do exactly that, thanksTo each their own, if the only reason you're thinking about a larger displacement is to spray more you're heading in the wrong direction. The bottom end of the 4.6 isn't the limiting factor on nitrous, it's the intake. The stock bottom end will hold a 150 shot, regardless of what you read. The intake design and the returnless fuel system are the problems. If I was going to dump 4k in my 4.6 or any modular for that matter I would do a stock rebuild on the bottom end but go with a better rod and a forged piston, minimal expense. The stock block and crank will hold just fine into the 700hp range. The remaining money would go towards a set of TF heads and cams and a return style fuel system. Change to an intake that doesn't have a huge plenum at the bottom for fuel to puddle in and you can spray 150 now as long as your pump will support the flow. The little things will nickle and dime you to death, I know cause of done this for a long time. Whatever you decide to do, just sit down and add everything up and look at the total cost of each option and compare dollar amounts for power gained. You're just not going to see a huge return by only adding displacement. To take advantage of increased displacement you have to go larger on heads cams and intake just to operate at the same level of efficiency.
it was used to mute your untrue points on the 5.4...................We're still talking about spending $700 on an intake to make something work when he's already said he wants to reuse the stock intake...................... Kind of a pointless argument here.
You haven't muted anything, I agree with everything you said. $700 for an intake you won't have to buy if you stay 4.6 and off the shelf headers/exhaust. I couldn't agree more with everything you say. Still waiting on you to push the add button on the calculator to figure the rest out.it was used to mute your untrue points on the 5.4...................
