Firewall adjuster... explain

Alright... I'm confused as ****. I've had my firewall adjuster and quadrant in for a few months now. I've noticed the last week or so that if I don't push it all the way to the floor, it is harder to get in gear. I assume this is because my cable has probably stretched a bit. Would I turn my firewall adjuster out or in to fix this? My kit didn't come with very good instructions.

Does it grind? Clutch problems usually grind. I have the same problem. My transmission actually locked up. I had to turn off the car to get it into gear. That to me is a clutch problem. I replace the clutch cable...it helped. Still, transmission was stiff. I changed out the quadrant and firewall adjuster. It is a lot better. My mechanic thinks that the pressure place has lost some tension. If that were true then the car would want to roll foward when the clutch is depressed. It doesn't roll at all.

For adjustment, I believe that if you go counter clockwise you will move the pedal closer to the floor. For me, its trial and error every time. I usually go the wrong way first. But, it fixed the problem.

I don't know how to push harder than completely to the floor. Are you saying something needs to be adjusted beyond that?

Hard to explain... through muscle memory I don't always completely push it to the floor because it never needed to go completely to the floor to switch gears. Maybe like a cm or so off the floor. Lately I've noticed that it feels like I get locked out of 2nd or 3rd gear when depressing the clutch, and pushing it that extra cm seems to let me in. This is the reason why I think my cable has stretched a bit, and it needs readjusted. Just need to figure out which way to adjust it!

Simple to do. You turn the adjuster toward the firewall till its a dimes thickness gap (snug fit). Done.

I think I found my problem. The plastic anchor for my floor mat ripped out of the carpet and the floor mat pushed up under the pedals. Seems to have fixed it... thanks for the help

That happened to me once at an after car show drag race. Except it got under the go pedal.
