 Well I just traded in my civic si 4 door and got a v6 2011 mustang .
1. how do I find out what rear ratio I have .
2. Whats up with the top speed and is there a way or would there be a way
to make top speed faster .
3. If I have a 2.73 rear ratio how can I change that and how much might
that cost me.
4. How much slower is a 2.73 ratio compared to 3.31.

I'm lost here first american car ever please somebody help me :sorry

1: Go on the highway and put on cruise control at 80 and tell us your RPMS
2: get a tuner
3: Get new gears from Mustang Parts & Performance - American Muscle It can cost up to $600 for everything from my research
4:speed isn't the deal, it's more for acceleration.

Thank God you came to the domestic side. :) Props to you, welcome to Modded Mustangs. Hope this helps some.

you have 3.73's

Your top speed is fast enough, faster than your car will let you go with the limiter.
3. If I have a 2.73 rear ratio how can I change that and how much might
that cost me.
You dont

Um...

The standard 2.73 rear axle provides an ideal blend of cruising fuel economy and acceleration, aided by the wide ratio spread permitted through the use of six forward speeds in the gearboxes. Performance enthusiasts can select an available 3.31 rear axle ratio for better off-the-line launch characteristics.

Order Ring and pinion and install kit , Make sure it says for the 7.5( your rear size) Have a someone install it for around 300. Whilte your playing around with the rear get a posi diff if thats 11's dont have that. Also look at 3.73 vs 4.10 gears

tbh u should post this in the 05+ section lol

in search of specs i priced out a new mustang, with tradeing and a small down payment they are only 300 a month.. thats pretty cheap actually.

I bet if you went from 2.73 to whatever else is being suggested, It would make a huge difference.

But be warned. It WILL Change your mpg :) Not by much from my understanding, but it will.

I'm planning to run at the track in homstead florida once I break it in . so I do need a tune once I switch the gear ratio how much does that run for . Im really happy with the car it seems alot quicker then my 4 dr 2007 si but the onlt complaint I really have is that top end speed my civic was pushing 125 130 stock .

I recommend picking up a handheld tuner from AmericanMuscle.com. PM AMStanger here and she can get you a discount code on all their products (AmericanMuscle is good to us here at MM). The tuner itself is ~$380 (I recommend the SCT). Get the one that comes with free tunes for life. It's great for getting retuned for basic bolt ons (they don't tune for internals, FI, or nitrous).

top speed doesn't really mean much, if you are racing its all in the takeoff. Do you have an auto? if so a tuner would probably help you out a lot, im not sure how much with the new cars though. but yeah you need one to fix your speedo/tach after you switch out the gears.
