independet studys have shown they add power, with the addition of other mods headers are a very nice mod, saying they dont add power is a total lie. if what you are saying is true than why do our cars get faster after exhast mods, huh?
 
if you know your **** as well as you say you do you would know that 96-98 mustangs had very poor flowing headers from the factory. the 99-04 didn't have the same issue...

fact is.. you put a bigger pipe on the car with smoother bends.. it's going to let the exhaust gasses escape with less restriction..

simply put.. more flow =more power.. no matter what kind of motor it is on.. 4,6 or 8.

looks like it gained 17/16 to me and according to 5.0 mustang magazine.

and yes the test mule was a 4.0l v6

from my shitty research , I thought getting ceramic headders add a bit more power because the heat stays in the pipes creating faster air going out. I dont know crap but what I read... and Im smart enough not to trust everything I see.... so I dont.

Get some mac long tubes, they will give some noticeable power when first put on, but they will really help with future mods.

There is an 89 IROC-Z running with a 100% stock enigne, and a catback exhaust. I made a mistake, ill admit it. I Didnt see that when I posted it, the car had modified exhaust. but, still, modified exhaust dont drop you 2 seconds.
 
Depends if the Iroc-Z is a L98 or not...

To beat the L98 it will take a V6 some mods...

The LB9 on the other hand would prolly be a good race with the hat being tipped in the V6's favor...

the best i have ever seen a stock iroc run is 14.4, that guy had some mods.

umm did you perhaps take a look at his other mods?

like the advanced timing.. or the full suspension?

in case you missed it.. here is it..

Intake & Air Filter:: stock TPI with gutted factory airbox
Headers (downpipe): Hooker supercompetition shorties

Midpipe:
Hooker Y pipe and factory catalyst
Exhaust: 3inch custom catback--Powerstick chambered tube mu


Ignition: factory but 10 degrees advanced timing

Gas: mix of 89/93 oct
Pulley:
Transmission: Built 700R4 (to 450hp/tq)
Clutch/Torq Conv: Edge racing 2800 stall
Differential: Borg warner 9 bolt

Gears: 3,27
Suspension: Full bolt on suspension so far
Wheels: stock Irocz 16x8
Brake Rotors/Pads: factory disks
Tires 26x11.50x16 M/T ET streets



so yea... that's a stock iroc z right?
