So I've been having a problem with my o2 sensors, I've been getting code p2196 for months now, even though I've replaced them about 5 times. Well I thought it was because they were crappy Bosch o2 sensors... Well I'm in the process of relocating my battery to the trunk so I had to remove my sub battery wire. While I was trying to take it off, I noticed that the wire was literally melted onto my header, so whenever the car was on, it was feeding voltage through my damn headers! It was bare wire exposed to the header, and it even melted the paint off the header in that spot. SO I'm pretty sure that's why I get p2196 all the time and why it runs rich. Also why my sub doesn't hit as hard.
Code P2196
Possible causes
- Faulty Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1
- Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 harness is open or shorted
- Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 circuit poor electrical connection- Inappropriate fuel pressure
- Faulty fuel injectors
- Intake air leaks may be faulty
- Vacuums leaks
Moral of the story: When you hook up your battery wire for your sub, make sure it isn't near the headers or moving parts!
