Persistent P0442 code

A few days after my transmission was rebuilt I popped a CEL code P0442 “EVAP emissions small leak detected”. I cleared it with my hand held tuner and double checked the gas cap. Since then its came back every 50-75 miles after clearing. Had the car smoke tested with no result. Bought a new gas cap most recently and she still comes up with P0442.

My gas mileage is consistent and don’t smell anything out of the normal range in ways of fumes.

Any ideas? Thanks!

It must be a very small leak if it takes the light that long to come on. If you smoke tested it should have found it. That makes me feel like it may be a hose near the tank.

After further research I'm leaning toward the "Fuel Tank Filler Grommet"
Or some damn electrical issue.

I was getting the same error. The vacuum line that goes to the carbon can was loose at the can. Don't know about 2002 but my '00 had the can above the driver side exhaust tip. Might want to lay hands on the carbon can hose before doing the grommet, that's a pain.
