I just bought an 88 LX convertible with a full gt kit and a 2.3l. i also bought a 351 (block #d1ae-6015-da9). where can i order the cheapest swap headers and oil pan? And is my block a windsor or a cleveland or is it a modified or 400? I've checked 100's of sites with 100 different answers. please help asap because I'm ready.

Well thats a 1971 Block. You can tell by the D(1970) and the 1(year one of 1970)

The cleavland WAS offered for those years.

Its easy to see by your heads tho. Does it have canted valves? Also the headers have offset bolts on Cleavland heads. Like one top left and the other bottom right.

Instead of the usual straight across bolt pattern.

Its a 351W block tho im sure

Easiest way to determine is look at the water neck. If its part of the block itself then its a cleavland if its part of the intake than its a Windsor.

Also the heads are massive on a cleavland and on a windsor its about the same as a 302 in physical size.

Cleavlands are an entirely different ball game than a windsor.

Stock for stock old engine for old engine. A cleavland will win hands down. It has canted valves and massive heads (on the 4V anyway) and flows MUCH better. The 4V and 2V cleavlands both use their own heads and intake where as the windsor uses the same heads and jut swaps intakes. But there is almost no aftermarket for the cleavland. So in todays day and age unless your restoring a cleavland original car like a 70 Mach with an original cleavland or something. Then its dumb IMO to use a cleavland. A windsor is MUCH cheaper to find parts for and much more potential since it has a huge aftermarket.

But im whilling to bet its a windsor. Id put money on it being a windsor.

Clevland mechanical fuel pump had verticle bolt down. Windosor mechanical fuel pump had horizontal bolt down.
