would rebuilding an engine like reset the mileage and make it a 'new' engine? cause i was looking at getting maybe a bronco 5.8l 351 engine cause it is already fuel injected and getting any 351 that isn't new is gonna have some miles on it

ur cluster will still say the mileage that ur car has. not of the new engine
yes i know that. but will the mileage on the other engine reset if i rebuild it. how much would a rebuild even be? i have found several 351 engines out of a bronco and they all have 75k+ miles on them

ok i mean like say the engine has 150,000 miles, if i were to rebuild it would it be like a brand new engine? or will i still have some problems cause it had 150,000 miles on it. maybe i'm confused as to what a rebuilt engine is

it would be like new

you have to baby it and break it in like new. but the block might show signs of stress due to the 150k miles... the block its self might continue to wear like it has some miles on it but not as fast as it was

rebuilding a 75k mile 351 would give you an essentially brand new motor, ive seen 351's run stock with 200k miles on them and run strong if you rebuilt one youll have a brand new engine considering you break it in properly

to rebuild your looking at about 1500-2000 with stock parts, upgrading cams heads ect and rebuilding with upgraded parts probably 2000-3500

it would help to get the computer, but you should be able to use yours and just force everything to work. you most likely will have to transfer sensors over and have to transfer things but keep the v6 comp

you move the sensors over, reconfigure the computer and then it should just fire right up. if you use the bronco computer you will have to find a way to remove pats

dude think about all this work ur considering....i say rebuild urs or put an identical one in and sell the car. ur opening a can of worms with all of this and if u even decide to sell the car its gonna be hard to do.

i don't have money to just get another engine and build it without selling the s/c. i don't want to lose the power that i have. so if i sell the vortech, then i will have plenty of money to do what i need to do. my step dad knows what he is doing

get the whole bronco man, youll want a parts car sitting beside you as you work, youll need the computer and harness and all that, and I say go EFI if you can itll be more beneficial
