connector as follows.

pin # Puprose
1 Ground
2 Illumination Feed

I would guess that a momentary connection between 3 and 4 would do it, but am not sure so DO AT YOUR OWN RISK! NOT MINE! :)

Personally, I would just leave it alone untill your new button comes in. Or borrow a buddys and loosely plug it in so you can check voltages as you press it with a meter to see what it is doing.

jsut buy a tuner, that way you can turn TRAC off permanently, you can check your code, and you can also turn your rear O2's off, and you wont have to buy MIL's. kill 3 birds with one stone, and its not like your not going to buy a tuner in the future anyway.

any other suggestions?

The problem is for the traction control to be off, the button is actually on. Kind of backwards but that's how Ford designed it. So by disconnecting it, you are actually engaging the traction control. Like King suggested, you need a tuner to eliminate the traction control.

iv never had to use my trac on my car, but my wife always wants me to turn it on when she rides, because she thinks, light off means its off

The '03 shop manual wiring diagram shopws the t/c switch as a momentary contact single pole/single throw unit that closes the pink/black and gray wires when pressed.

This signal is applied to the instrument cluster microprocessor, which appears to interpret the keypress and toggle a differential signal labeled SCP+ and SCP- to the ABS controller.

The TC switch cannot be rewired to disable it. Like mentioned its a momentary switch and requires a relay to give a momentary short when the key turns on to disable it. Its really easy to turn it off in a tune too.

cliff...if i wire in a momentary contact switch in line with everything else between the 2 wires you mentioned, meaning the switch is still all connected, just i will be able to momentarily connect those two wires behind it, will i be able to turn it off?

If I understand you correctly. you want to use a normally open switch connected to the pink/black and gray wires--if this is so, then pressing this switch momentarily should perform the same function as the OEM switch. I.e turn the t/c off the first time you press it after starting the car, and on when you press it again.

It will not permanently set the state of the t/c.
