Would i crack my block if i did this?

Hey guys i have been talking to a guy with a V1 S-trim S/C And it comes with everything except the BTU and fuel lines. ( the blades look nearly new) But it has an Anderson power pipe, 8lbs pulley, belts, 3.33 pulley and everything else and the unit was rebuilt 6 years ago but never run after. He wanted $1500 ive talked him down to $1,100. ( should i get it rebuilt? Though maybe i will at least have the seals replaced since its been sitting so long?)

But my question is would i have to worry about creating to much HP or TQ for my Block to crack or my Tranny to burn out?? ( Tremec 3550- hold 375 TQ rating ).

Here are my parts list now (from what i can remember at the moment) And if anyone can tell me if i should be safe or not and not worry about damage that would be great.

306 bored (still stock block)
Trick flow Track heat Upp/low intake.
Roush 200cc heads.
70mm TB
Intake fuel pump upgrade (cant think) 190LPH or 255LPH.
E-303 cam
1.7RR
Full MSD ignition (with the 6AL will i neet the BTM still, or is it a good idea?)
EQ headers, H-pipe, Mac cat back.
24lbs injectors. and Fuel rails
Adjustable fuel regulators
Underdrive pullies w/ Smog pump delete

Thats all i can think of that is engine related at the moment, but i just was wondering if you guy think i would be safe to run this S-trim with this combo or not. B/c i dont want to crack the block or screw up the tranny. Also do you have a rough number on HP and TQ? I would rather be further away from 500 and alot closer to 400, b/c my car wont be wooping anyone if i crack the block.

But let me know what ya think about if i would be ok, if ya got a HP and TQ range guess, if ya think its a good deal or bad deal, anything would be helpful, i appeciate any and all posts, hopefully ya can help me out. Thanks guys! - The Novice.

the one thing you need to know is what your compression ratio is, with a 8 pound pulley you will want to be around 8:1

as far as the block goes, these blocks are known to go at 500hp, unless your ryans88gt because he seems to have more luck then most.

depending on your compression ratio, i would say in the 450hp range with 8 psi.

some one will correct me if im wrong.

You can run 8lbs of boost on 9.1 with no problems even more if you'd like.

450HP, and im guessing at least 420 TQ...Dang, well that would destroy my tranny im sure...

Im not sure about the 306 and its ratio b/c the guy before me put it together so i have no idea, and no idea how to find out. But he was running a S/C before, although he didnt tell my that is my guess, and the computer is chipped. But thats about all i know unfortanently.

I would be affaid i would crack my block, and destroy my tranny. Does that make sence or am i being naive? What do you guys think?

I though about maybe buying it and selling, i could prob make a little money, but i would feel like a D-bag.

I keep on going back and forth between wanting a S/C and alternatives. But i guess i just might have to rule S/C out for good. The cam is weak im thinking of a Stage 2 cam by Trickflow. But i dunno if i have the Valve clearence.

I dont know what other mods i can do, but i want some more HP :( Thanks for the help guys, much appeciated. - The Novice

i would just buy it and run it as it is

i have a friend with a 347 stroker and a 150 shot of nitrous that he took down the track a cupple times and nothin happend to eather the engine or the tranny

Mostly street, with hopefully some track time on it too.

So you are saying i should have to worry about cracking the block? But what about my tranny though? Wont that S/C's Torque just eat it up?

And jw what happens if i continue to run the 24lbs injectors?

No you won't crack your block. I'm running a wilder combo than that with 15 pounds of boost and a stock block.

I also have a nice shiny S-trim and polished aftercooler for sale :)

Thanks Darrell, although what about my tranny? I dont know if these S/C make a lot of TQ like the roots style do or not.

You running a T-5 Still?

And i have 24lbs injectors will i have to upgrade or can i wait a little bit? And im guessing i would need a good tune for this to work best? Thanks Darrell! - The Novice.

I gave up on T5s along time ago. I had one good T5. The other 500 T5s I had were junk. I have a TKO in my street beater.

I run 42lb injectors in my car with no FMU.

you'll have no problems with a proper tune, with either the trans or the block. People have been doing this for decades.

So you guys think i will be ok huh? And even if i drive her hard i shouldnt have issues with a proper tune? If so i will really have to think about this then, i was kinda scared i could hurt the car a lot.

But what else would ya recommend i get in support of the S/C system? Do i need the BTM? Bigger Injectors and a Chip or anything else? Thanks a lot guys for the help!!

ok so heres a question (not to hi-jack the thread)

on my 78, i have a 306 with a stock crank, but its got a set of hypertectic flat tops, it puts the compression around 8.5:1

i would like to get some big chamber heads on it to get it around maybe just 8:1, then do a big single, what do you think it could take? (the engine only has 2k miles

don't worry you shouldnt have any problems just make sure you get the car tuned with a chip on a dyno after you install the supercharger i recommend getting a 4 bank SCT chip, order it blank, and have someone tune your car so it is safe

You can run a lot of boost on hypers, 20+ PSI. As long as you have 0 detonation. The slightest hint of detonation and you will have piston pieces instead of whole pistons.

With 8-10 PSI, it'd be a lot easier to just go supercharged. You give up a little power, but for a street car, 600 hp is overkill anyway.
