Pre-loading the suspension should help depending on the rest of your set up. I'm a little confused as to what you mean by the suspension having to travel farther. Does your car squat when you launch it?
When I use the line lock the rear feels like it lifts and holds there under power so that means the car will have farther to drop before the weight gets shifted. Could be more harmful than helpful. But I will see what happens this friday.

At least I'll get the tires hot.....

Well maybe it's a chance to upgrade suspension parts.

Thought about trying it yourself as far as the painting? I mean whats the worse that can happen, you get it painted again?
I have planned on finishing out my rear suspension this winter with BMR UCA/LCA & brackets, but it will come with time and more money. All my spare cash has been drained due to 3 different weddings this summer, so I will probably be living with the squeaks until December or early next year. I'm supposed to meet with HR here at work to take a couple tests (vision, hearing, and piss) and if I pass, I'm pretty sure I will have an engineering position here at work. If there is much extra cash flow, I can get these replaced sooner than later.

The only thing I've got left that I originally planned, is the rest of my rear suspension, a 1-piece driveshaft, and a set of hot rod cams with a dyno tune for a solid and fun daily driver. But being that the car is just shy of 150,000 miles, I'm a little concerned with sticking a set of hot rods in there with the stock valve train. Not really looking to swap all the springs. The car has been easy basic bolt-ons and haven't really wanted to dig that deep into the engine. Replacing all of those seems like more work than I've been wanting.

I wouldn't be opposed to painting the car myself, but as of right now, I don't even have a compressor. I know my dad has mentioned painting my spare Roush bumper with his compressor and I could practice on that. Neither of us have any body work experience. Spraying silver and blending it has me worried. But again as the car is my daily, I can't really afford to have car down for an extended period of time.

Oh, and passenger side inner tie-rod and parking brake cables are shot as well.

Decisions, Decisions.

The rear of your car shouldn't move down or squat. That is actually unweighting the rear axle. You want the car to stay level or lift slightly in the rear when you launch. It will provide a stronger hit to the wheels and more traction. You don't want It to lift too hard because that hits the tire and then unweights it quickly. You should have someone video your launched to see where you need to adjust the suspension geometry.

I have one video that show I squat but there is a guardrail between me and the camera so I only see the top of the tire and see the movement. Changed the shocks and relocation brackets and now I will heat up the tires better. Not sure how high I should set the compression yet until I can hit the tires and not spin.

Hope someone catches one of my passes with video.

I DROVE IT! First time in almost 2 years. It started out as a 4:10 gear swap and turned into a lot more. I don't have a plate on it so I was only able to blast it up the street a couple times, but no weird noises or leaks.

Over the 2 years I did:
FRPP 4:10 with all new bearings, seals and clutch pack.
BMR Upper control arm bushing (CHE upper control arm and mount already in place).
Painted rear end and diff. cover.
BMR handling springs.
Koni ST-R shocks and struts.
Steeda strut mounts.
BMR lower control arms.
BMR relocation brackets.
BMR adjustable panhard.
Russell braided stainless brake lines.
Painted calipers and rotor hubs (G2 caliper paint).
Painted throttle body and MAF housing (with extra caliper paint).
Passenger side parking brake cable.
Fuel filter.
Brake fluid flush.

Kinda crappy pic but here it is all done.

and a stroll down memory lane....

Working on it, time was limited as I work 12 days on 2 days off. Does not leave much time for fun. And damn it was hot all week 90 degrees f and being up in the north east we are not used to it. I have no Idea how people out in the south west deal with it.

I had to make a hand held button so I can hold it in my hand and not be pressing a button on the dash or center console. I used the button that came with the kit. Looks good. All I have left to do is reinstall the center console and plug in the button.
I understand. I'm on 17 on 4 off or 24 on 5 off.

Kudos too you sir! 2 years?! Thats dedication. If i dont have new parts installed in 30 minutes i start getting frustrated.

If anybody has put on headers and wants to sell their exhaust manifolds pm me. It's one of the last things holding me back from installing this turbo
I still have a set of factory manifolds that came off my 07 from when I did headers two years ago.

I tossed mine a while back. Kept them around for years just in case and finally tossed them. What about a set of shorties? They should work just fine.

I still have my manifolds laying along the side of my garage where they've been for 2+ years now and I trip over them constantly. I'd send them to you for the cost of shipping if interested, only caveats are 1) they need cleaned out obviously and 2) I had the factory locknuts sieze on two of the studs, leading to about 1/2" being snapped off those two studs. There was still enough length to bolt up the midpipe and double nut it so it didn't affect much.

If you have any interest send me a PM.
