your bushings are a big thing to look at. Poly or Spherical. I am doing the MM HD LCA with the Poly on one side and the Spherical on the other. Dexter suggested them to me. Poly bushings aren't any good and bind and break. The Spherical make a little noice and vibrations they say but gain of it...They say it well with it. (they Dexter, Jazzer, and the companies.)

Depends on what control arms Summit's rebranding this week. They don't make any of their own parts, they just find someone who'll sell them unbranded stuff for a slight discount, and sell them as "Summit Brand". It *can* be a good deal if you can figure out what you're getting and it's what you want.

The last time I looked, it appeared that the summit arms were granatelli units, which I don't trust due to having a reputation for poor welds.

When paying for a better control arm, you're paying for better welds, better steel, and different bushing material. Design is fairly similar, with the only real big difference being if you prefer tubular or box, adjustable or not. Admittedly, design plays a bigger role with adjustable arms, as they're not just a straight piece of tubing.

^^ True, though the bushing type is important.

You want one spherical and one normal bushing. Don't get aluminum (delrin) ones, they will tear up your torque boxes.

As for your Uppers. Don't bother with anything other than stock type ones. There is not real benefit to anything different unless its adjustable. Otherwise its not worth it.

The issue of binding is few and far between. Unless you are a die hard road racer the talk of binding is overkill

If you call and ask most companies will offer a variety of bushing just like Granatelli

We offer Billet. Delran, Poly, Natural rubber and rod ends - prices vary but you get the point:)

I beg to differ. Just pulling on to the freeway aggresively can lead to bind in a stock set up. And with the upgraded ones that you offer, the bind is raised to a much higher limit, but still remains. Most people will not likely have an issue once upgraded though.

If you are saying that the bind after upgrading is not an issue unless you are a road racer or autocrosser, I would agree.

They're not all the same. Some are made better, and are stronger. Some are lighter, and cannot take the hard launches, and are ideal for twisty cars.

What is your goal with the car? How much power are you making? How often do you go to the track? These are important things to know.

I like HPM Megabites. They're strong, and can endure the hard launches, and abuse you'll put the car through.

I was referring to the post that bascially said poly will never work - I pushed natural rubber for years and everyone said I was crazy - now everyone is a natural rubber fan:yes. Next month it will be all about the flex joint like this one:

And then there is always the guy that insists on rod ends - but rod ends make tons of road noise and wear out quickly on the street

That is why I like the the way we currently offer teh weight jacker arms - poly or nat ruber on one side with the bearing on the other - it is as bind free as you can get

Are upper and lower control arms pretty much all the same? like is summit lowers as good as maximum motorsports tubular ones? if not what is the difference?
Yeah, all uppers and lowers are the same. Just buy some ebay stuff. Works great.

I would say that if you are looking for ones that are for racing and going to be making a lot of power down the road you'll want to get ones with speherical bushings on both ends. Maximum Motorsports makes good ones. They will create more road noise but if you are serious about making power and trying to plant it, they are good. Read up on this article, you will learn a lot.

Thanks for the link, but need to give props to ModMustang97GT for much of the info found in that thread :yes

I run the Steeda alum upper and lowers and have been happy with them, and noticed a big improvement in grip
