Wouldnt a 3v swap be easier? The 4v you would have to knock in a pilot bearing, rework the ecu, new headers etc. All you need for the 3v is logan adapter plates, cobra throttle body and tb cable, and imrc deletes..

Hard to say, wish we could find someone who's done both. Tons of people seem to do the 4v. I mean after all you're just putting what's essentially a Cobra motor in a GT of the same year, versus jumping body styles.

Either way they're pretty close, the 3v gives you less weight and lower miles, while the 4v gives you more flow and less cost. Flip a coin. lol

Bad news....I went to look at the motor (called the guy who knew I was on my way), get there and he tells me he just sold it 15 minutes before I got there...The great part is he knew I was driving an hour and a half to get it...dick...so it looks like I'm lookin for a 3v now

Lame!

Good luck with the 3v. If you can find one cheap pounce on it. Otherwise there's tons of junkyard 4v's. There's even some better C-head ones on SVTP and Corral pretty cheap.

And what part of Indiana are you in? I've been meaning to check out a junkyard just south of Seymour on 65.

I'd appreciate all the help I can get on finding a 3v or 4v, but I'm in Petersburg, about 45 minutes north of Evansville...Seymour's a little ways away from me lol

Eh that's not too far in Indiana terms. I drove to Corydon to get my Eaton swap all the way from Columbus.

The place I saw on the way there was called 5-C auto parts I think. I've been meaning to give them a call to see if I could snag some little stuff, like COP's, coil covers, plastic cowl, etc... I'll let you know if I find anything.
And I think there's a pick a part in Indy that's supposed to be halfway decent.

And since you're not terribly far I might be able to give you a hand on a weekend or something.

No kidding man...haha it's not that far and that sounds good to me, I'm always around town....plus I get bored of being the only Mustang in town! there's a junkyard in Evansville that occasionally has some decent stuff...they have a GT right now

i got me a 3v engine :) yayyy, i heard its pretty cheap to do the swap. i found the engine for 1100 and the guy said it only had 20k miles. i havent started on it yet. im waiting for the summer to start ordering my parts. it doesnt take too much to do the swap. its a direct swap. they sell adapters for the coil on plugs so u can use the 3v ones. you will need a throttle body from a 03/04 cobra some other lil things. there is a guy on modularfords.com who had mad 370 hp n/a with the 3v. i believe he put cams and ported the heads.

5.0Mag just had an article about the options for swaps. Looks like FRPP makes kits for retrofitting 3V harnesses and such into pre-S197 stangs.

Might be worth checking it out..

GL and keep us posted man
