As unique as using the 5.4 would be I really think Im gonna go for the 5.3 Boss...I get my displacement and I can run off the shelf parts. This build is going to be expensive enough as it is lol Thanks for mentioning the aluminator...I already thought about it and decided to nix the idea. I know the aluminum block can take it but I would still rather have the iron bock. So now that Im pretty sure what I wanna do CID and bottom end wise, lets talk heads and valvetrain. I wanna do GT supercar heads. Thoughts? Should I go off the deep end and go for the Jesel rockers? Should I bother having them ported/polished? Should I run GT cams or look for aftermarket sticks?
the GT heads are a good choice but then you are limited on intakes. You can get an upper for a gt500 lower manifold or go with a fr500c intake. As far as the followers, the oem followers are just fine for this, money can be better spent elsewhere. This would be a good read for you if you are serious about doing this. I forget his name right this minute, but there is a really good build thread of a guy who did exactly what you might be doing with the bb stroker tt idea over on corral. He used the "cammer" intake i believe. Not sure, but I think this is the only intake that fits those heads. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here. Has some youtube vids too! Good luck whatever you decide!
I believe na svt was using the Boss 302 and even the 5.0 stock intake to work with a Navi motor. It looked like it lined up pretty well.

Ah yes! I've been following that thread also, but last time I checked, it hadn't been successfully accomplished yet. Just a matter of time I believe, and that would be super cheap, comparitively speaking!

Not to get too far off topic Wicked, but I've followed your project as well, and I have to say I really admire your ambition and determination. I mean working in such cramped corners in freezing temps! Holy Crap! And screw all the haters who say it would've been cheaper to do this or that! It's art, after all, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

The custom work involved to make a 5.4 fit in our cars isn't really that large of an issue imo. I mean, the op's already going to be swapping his k for a tubular piece in order to accomodate the twins (or a single for that matter), so it's really not going to be that difficult to add some k spacers to make more room for the taller deck. These things have been done before:) The bigger problem I see is finding a "reasonalbly priced" and "effective" intake manifold. Lets be honest here, either way, 1000 rwhp is going to require BIG bucks! Like the discussion!
as far as physically fitting it Im not worried. Its the added cost of a custom kit that I have a problem with. If I can reach my goal for a little less coin then why not? By no stretch of the imagination do I plan on skimping on quality parts!

I will definitely give that a read...Thanks! Has anyone on here actually used the jesel followers?

so youre saying the intake off of a coyote 5.0 has the potential to work on GT heads?

the intake off of the new coyote almost matches up to a navigator head. Its not exactly a setup id throw on a twin turbo high hp motor. It might work great for an NA navi motor swap but it doesn't seem appropriate for this.

With a little modification, yes. But that was not the main focus of the project, that was the Boss 302 intake.

Yup. The Coyote intake was more of an afterthought. The Boss 302 was the main objective. The Coyote isn't too friendly since it has a fairly small plenum and longer runners. The Boss 302 has shorter runners and a large plenum. Plus it should actually clear an alternator.

So a Boss 302 intake manifold should work pretty well with slight modification.

Of course if I was going balls out to make a 5.4 4v TT I'd go with a custom setup.

Im thinking probably a sheetmetal setup...
Take a look at Zzz Zzz's custom intake. I really like the design behind his. It's a modified Cobra (I forget what year) with a set of custom tuned velocity stacks on it, and reconfigured for front TB. Plus his is a 4.6 4v TT, so it would be a good starting point to reference.

after reading the article I think an FR500 intake is in order (thats if I can find one when the time comes) lol so now that we have the intake out of the way, lets talke transmission. I want to do a t56. Just how deep do I need to go on a t56 to handle this level of power? What can I use for a clutch setup? I like what the linked to builds used but I want to hear you guys suggestions lol

I have a spare fr500c intake laying around if you are going to go with gt heads. I was going to have properly angled adapters made to use it on my 5.4 but it would make the intake too tall to use even with a big cowl hood.

Aeromotive|17146 - 98 1/2-04 4.6L DOHC Cobra Eliminator Fuel System

The rails might not work with the fr500 intake but what do you guys think of this for a fuel system with probably 120lb injectors and abviously a sumped tank? The only thing I noticed is that it doesnt mention anyhing about the frps/fpdm etc. or having a boost referenced regulator. I would like to stay with the stock wiring harness for the most part and still run a stock computer. I dont want to get in to a FAST stand alone setup or the like.

Whereas a 5.4 has a 3.55 bore and a 4.16 inch stroke. It's a 4.6 with .8L added in stroke alone. It's a truck engine. The stroke is way too much longer than the bore to spin it high.

The old addage "There's no replacement for displacement" is a farce. Boost is the replacement. If you boost a 5.0L engine to 15 lbs you've effectively made it into a 10L engine.
mine revs to 6k in a heart beat, im sure it would spin alot higher but there no point inthat the cams dont make any more power higher than that

I know many people will tell you to just piece one together, but since I just bought one of their 2 pump systems and the kit quality is fantastic, I figure I might as well plug them:
