I NEED TO STRIP MY SEALANT!!!

Ohhh I misunderstood! Sry! I've never stripped with UWW, but what I would do is pour an ounce or two of APC into the UWW bucket, then spray the car with UWW+ and wash it with the UWW APC mixture.

TO THE GRARAGE!!! duanananananananana

I like them, i never said they were better than DAs or the "best" thing out there. There are things about a rotary that i really like the smoothness, speed/depth of cut, pad longevity. There are things about a rotary i dont like too.

Just like there are things about a DA i love, no sling, easier finish, safety and ease of use.

I still prefer a DA for most of my work because its much easier to create a perfect finish on any type of paintwork. But i bought a rotary because its something i want to learn.

Just curious, how much time did u spend behind the makita?

I didn't spend much time (not enough to say I know what i'm doing). We didn't have a lot of extra time. I understand the smooth factor. If you get the chance try a Rupes LHR75. Exact same smoothness and cuts just like that makita did. (He obviously knew how to use it). He has stopped since the Rupes. He used to have a flex 3401 and was very happy with it. He said he sold it when the Rupes came out and now he has 1 of each of their main line, lol. That 3" rupes is like nothing else ever. So awesome.

Idk if UWW+ will strip but you'd have to use quite a bit if you wanted it to. Careful with APC on paint. Depending on what kind it will need to be VERY diluted to make sure it doesn't do any damage. It should strip your lsp though.

Stripped the car and did the trunk. Seriously the "before" and "after" pictures. Don't work. No marring, swirls, there's a few deep scratches but not noticeable. Paint is near perfect honestly, just a few light scratches over the vehicle.

I think the only chance ill get to try a Rupes will be mustang week bro. So you better bring them lol. Ill definitely bring the Flex twins so you can get your hands on them (i know you secretly want to lol) Who doesnt want to try all the machines!

The reason i went with the 3401 is that for my situation it made more sense. The fact that it has different BP sizes and has forced rotation means its really 2 machines in 1. Ill be able to use serious DA power anywhere which im very excited about. Another thing to consider is that while the flex 3401 does have an obviously smaller stroke, it does have a MUCH higher OPM speed than any other DA plus guaranteed rotation. While the throw is half of the rupes, its max speed is more than twice as much (idk about rupes washer mod numbers, just factory). This fact is why, i think, that the flex performs comparably to the Rupes on foam polishing pads.

Again, im not saying the Rupes isnt awesome, its an amazing machine and proven itself, so far, to be one of the best polishers on the market. But i dont think by any means its made the flex obsolete.

I think the main reason most people avoid the rotary game is because there is quite a learning curve and the "danger" that is blown out of proportion. A rotary can be dangerous yes, but Its a machine to be respected and paid attention to, i think most of the horror stories come from idiots using a fullsize rotary @ 3k rpms with huge harsh pads and heavy compounds- thats obviously not smart lol.
Rotary does take ALOT to get used to, im sure you felt the machine start to wander a little. Im still learning but I really enjoy using it and plan on spending some time soon really trying to develop that skill because i think as a business it will be a great skill to have. And on a side not- its amazing, i mean AMAZING on headlights lol.

I think if you were to spend a few hours behind a rotary medium to final polishing you would really enjoy it, its almost soothing because its so dang smooth. I feel that if i can really harness that skill ill enjoy detailing even more than i already do.

PS. I got a package today :)

Initial inspection, feel- just quality. Feels exactly like my rotary, very solid and balanced. I cant wait to take it for a spin! I really wanna get a scrap panel that i can sand down and really test the capabilities of a 3401 and BnS MF pad.

What kind of light are you using to inspect your paint?

Nice!

He doesn't use it anymore. If I ever go back down there or he comes up i'm sure he'd let me borrow it. He's an awesome guy.

I was thinking the same thing. . . Or what fillers were left on the paint. Somethings going on here. If it's ever seen a car wash in the 8~ years it's been alive it can't be near perfect.

Oh and for everyone who doesn't check product swaps, i'm selling my gg and a bunch of products. Check it out.

Shut all the lights off in your garage, then turn on your cellphone Flash LED. Then take a look at the paint and tell us what you see. Next time you get a chance, wash your car with some dawn, that will help break down any wax on your paint as well.

Im sure your cobra is in great condition, but unless the previous owner was a serious detailer or had it corrected before, theres gotta be some swirlage goin on. I mean brand new mustangs with rock hard paint still have dealership swirls lol.

My mach 1 was VERY well maintained, it still had swirls when i got it.

hey shook, have you read anything about Carpro's Denim/Velvet pads?

You should look into them and borrow your buddies rotary. They level orange peel without sanding, AND from the reviews and pictures ive seen, its straight to medium/final polishing which is a huge time saver and way better than wet sanding.

You can use them with a rotary or the 3401. Which im excited about because im not so sure the forced rotation of the flex would be wetsanding friendly, lol.

Im also thinking when using them with the 3401- it could be a useful tool on cars with super hard paint and bad defects, talk about cut lol.

Read a review, the guy had some nasty aftermarket paint orange peel, he used a rotary and velvet pad with FG400, it finished SUPER well. He said it removed .1-.3 mil (less than 8 microns). Idk why people use mils, bugs me, lol, microns make more sense.

Anyway i thought you might be interested because you have LOTS of clear on your mach 1, and i know you want to get rid of that peel.

Is this universal? As in each brand follows this?
No, Buff N Shine is this way. Chemical Guys Hexlogic is very similar. And lake country is similar depending on which line of pads you choose.

If you get hydrotechs they are cyan>tangerine>crimson.

Every brand is different. Some are similar tho

Here is a review on the Carpro Velvet and Denim pads if anyone is interested. Ive already emailed T to see if he can get some in for me. Im definitely gonna pick some up.

I like how you painted the corral black, easy mod that makes the front end look cleaner. I thought you had a mach 1 delete at first.

I want to get the delete but I want to buy all three parts which is kinda expensive. And then the hood scoop. Also turned a lot of heads today. Drove past another 6er and he had his buddy in the car and they both broke their neck when I was turning. Thank god I'm a detailer
