So next weekend I'm going to an event called shift sector. It's a half mile race and I'm probably gonna see some speeds of about 180mph. I have seen tape used to improve aero. I have no idea. I would imagine I would cover up any open spaces but wasn't sure. Any other suggestions in prepping for those speeds are appreciated. Looking to beat up on some exotics and gm

There was a guy that took a 99-04 car and ran it in salt. I believe it was a yellow 03-04 cobra but not entirely sure on that. Tried to find a link but no luck.

Rears are for sure. Fronts probably not. Little skinnies
There are cars on skinnies running quicker than 180mph in the 1/4, but this is a longer distance. Not sure if they can withstand the heat for that long.

I have no advice for you lol. Good luck though!

Do you have any pics of videos or your car? Looks pretty bad ass!

^ lmao!

I wish they did events like this out here. Pussys

Yea I would look into running a set of street wheels in the front if at all possible.

Tape the creases and gaps on your front bumper and hood. Remove your windshield wipers.

If you've got adjustable struts I'd tighten up the front end to get rid of some sway you may feel on the big end.

Let it eat!

Make sure you have plenty of oil in the motor. That will be a long run at high rpm. You don't want to pump the pan dry. I wouldn't do it on bigs and skinnies.

Having a proper speed rated Tire would be my first suggestions skinnys are made for 1/4 mile taking them twice the distance would not be wise. You car should be able to handle that speed for a short burst, most important thing as mentioned is ensuring your Drivetrain is in order, and running a Speed rated street tire. Below are a few rules I found from other high speed requirements

Fire suppresion system or Fire Extinguisher.

Driveshaft retention loop

must have a metal battery tie down

non OEM fuel lines must be constructed of rubber, braided, or steel hard line

Fuel lines are not allowed in the drivers compartment( fire purposes)

Vehicles must have H, W, V, or Z rated tires which are rated for speeds in excess of 130 mph.

Cars must be equipped with OEM lap and shoulder (minimum 3 point) belts

Oh and remove the windshield wipers, if they're not already off. You can get black rubber door stops at Home Depot that fit over the silver mounting points which makes everything look nice and oem.

I'm not sure if you're running radial or bias plys all around, but depending on what type of front tire that is, I would look into drag specific hoosier/mt/goodyear skinnies, not the typical 60$ 165/80's. I would say run radials up front, but **** can go bad quick if you've got bias-plys out back. At an event like this I would want radials on all corners preferably with full-size fronts and a 15" rear.
