So today while driving about an hour to my apartment, I noticed the car starting to overheat on the last mile or so to my apartment. I didn't make it to my apartment but to a parking garage across the street on campus.

I quickly pull in, shut the car off and pop the hood. Steaming/smoking like crazy and the coolant is boiling and overflowing. Stayed with the car for a bit until it stopped boiling and what not and left it to cool off.

Now before I go an diagnose if it is a bad fuse, bad fan, thermostat or bad connection and all that jazz, what other preliminary things can I do to the car? I want to be able to drive it to my apartment which is literally less than a mile away.

Should I just get more coolant and top it off to where it should be from the overflow of it earlier or change the coolant completely (this is just to get it home for now)?

I plan on going like 10 - 15 mph.

Think it might be a fan or a connection. Noticed a/c would go cold, warm, and then eventually cold again prior to this happening.

Got bored and decided to paint my calipers/brackets/rotors. I did also replace the brackets and rotors today. I'm gonna think about doing the lines before I decide if/when to put the calipers on. My stock lines are looking pretty crusty at the hard line, so I'm not sure if I want to start messing with all that garbage. I'll wait until I make up my mind about the lines before I do the calipers. Painted everything matte black with some VHT Flameproof header paint. Everything was so clean from Roush, I just hosed it down real fast with brake clean, and sprayed. 2-3 coats on everything.

My initial impression is that these make a pretty nice difference. The car feels like it bites better and slows quicker. I was so impressed with the difference that I may have gotten a little overzealous. You can see in the last picture I put some heat into those rotors lol.

And here are the calipers

Safelite came out and replaced my cracked windshield. $415 (basically) for brand new OEM glass installed by a mobile unit. Can't complain, they let me watch and we had a good time BSing while we waited for things to set and dry. Looks pretty good from an install standpoint and it is nice to have a new windshield without the 9000000 pock marks to block my view. Although I DO need a new cabin air filter. :p

I like those rotors after the paint. I've been meaning to look up how to clean mine up from the oxidation on the hat.

I cleaned it up and played with the camera on this new Galaxy S5

Went and saw the car. Started up fine, let it idle for like 20 minutes to see if it would start overheating. Nothing. Drove it back to my apartment, didn't overheat and temps did not get higher at idle while waiting for stoplights. Stayed right below halfway on the gauge.

Later this week I will start digging and see what happened.

Trying to figure out this damn mystery...FOr the second time in 2 months...My 2005 Convertible Stang GT has had an oily substance literally soaking the driver's side seatbelt! I had to pull it out all the way I could and wash it down with some "Dawn". It took 5 or so rinses t get it all clean. This happened last month as well! Ruined 2 work shirts. Anyone had this or know what may be the cause? This truly stinks!!! I have had it since new and this just started happening. Only comes from the driver's side seatbelt and I look like a "Safety Patrol" kid when I get to work with those oily stripes on my shirt. I guess I could have got "Fragged" but how do I get it out and stop it?

I think the only thing it could be would be fluid from the power top. I think your hydraulics are leaking somewhere in there and getting all over the belt.
