I have a buddy with an 04 Cobra with a few bolt ons. He's having wheel hop, as I assume all of the irs cobras do. I've read that you can replace the control arm bushings to reduce/eliminate this.

Maximum motorsports said they recommend using bushings made from "delrin" instead of polyurethane, as the urethane ones still deflect and don't completely solve the issue.

Anyone have any luck fixing the wheel hop issues with the IRS, or does everyone just do a single axle swap?

he's got full length subs and used nitto drag radials (i know they suck, but came with the car)

his wheel hop was more pronounced with drag radials.

I think he's leaning towards keeping the IRS

what kind of brace did you add import?

Nittos are actually pretty good. drgnrcn almost got his front tires off the ground with a little over 300 rwhp on nittos.

also when i got my 4.10's put in i had them swap out my diff mounts from the stock rubber to maximum motorsports poly ones. that did WONDERS for my wheel hop. i think the bushings where only like $45 too. i could have done the swap my self but since they were already down there it was easy for them to do it.

heres th link....

its in the cobra irs section under diff mounts.

what size nitto, on what size rim, and how much pressure is he running? he should probably lower to down to about 16-20PSI.

the next step if he has FLSFC's, and DR's is the subframe bushings, MM is the only way to go for them.

also he needs to make sure he has a IRS brace ont he pumkin, it wont eliminate any hop, but will keep him from busting the pumkin.

Yer. And the more power you have the quicker hop will break ****.
yup, gotta get rid of it. most people break stock halfshafts, and think you need them by 500RWHP, or mid 11's, and thats false, with all the bushings, and proper 15" tires, not 17"DR's stock shafts will go mid 10's no problem. most people are just idiots, and go to the track with 17's, and no matter what tire, its going to hop. it can kill solid axles just as easy as halfshafts.
