oh a heads up if u have messed up roads and your car is lowered pick another turbo kit... Powerhouse, turbo horsepower, hp.

in the hellion the piping goes under the k member. from pple i kno i havent really heard any complaints but i know that my exhaust scrapes once in a blue because of these gays cats.. which will soon come off.(i dont have the hellion and i am not lowered so it kinda makes me think what if i had it.)

my plans are about the same, 450 rwhp, for now and keeping the stock bottom. the whipple is capable of boosting 20# and 700 hp. for the street that is a crapload! with that hp if you hammer it on the highway your wheels will be spinning, sounds great. dont get me wrong, the turbo has its own flavor which others may find more appealling. i just like the way the whipple sounds and looks, compact compared to a turbo with all its twisty turny pipes. i know that in on the strip the turbo will win, but for me i will mostly be driving on the street. i dont plan on going over 450 hp right now, but who knows, later i could upgrade the bottom end, change pulleys and more boost!!!! :3gears

kenne bell and a bottom end. about 600rwhp for the street and around 750 for the strip and let the grins keep on a comin. the only thing that really sucks is i'll have to wait about a year and a half till i get back from the desert to drive it again.

one thing i like a lot the turbos that is really convenient, you can tur your boost up and down whenever you want. for long trips you can turn you boost down, and if you want to run someone you can turn it back up.

jat, I appreciate your input and understand what you mean. I'm not asking for anyone to make up my mind for me, only for other's experiences with the systems. Seeing how its january, there arent alot of shows going on now. I just like to hear your opinions, because it does help. I wouldn't have thought to buy an aluminum d/s, but after hearing everyones raves about the spydershaft, I got hooked up and i love it. Same thing here

...and i didnt know about the piping difference on the hellion, thx...I'll keep that in mind

dont forget that turbos have turbo lag, cuz there running off exhaust gases, twin screw or centrif superchargers are ran off the crank pulley, which is instant boost, you may be able to turn ur boost up and down easier...but with that your going to need multiple tunes..cuz if u turn the boost up and not enough gas now ur running lean, and leans not exactly safe, you make more power lean, and you turn the boost down..more gas an less air now ur running rich...IMO id choose a supercharger for these cars

twin screws are much easier to install then a turbo kit. Can't go wrong with the whipple or KB. Both can be upgraded and both will make awesome power.
What are the differences between kenne bell and whipple? Seems like more people run the whipple, but I gotta admit, the kenne bell blower looks beefy

Turbo's & Centrifugal type s/c'ers make more power in the middle & top of the powerband.
Roots type & Whipples, or twin screws, make better power in the lower half of the powerband. So it all depends on what you want & when you want it.

the KB is 2.6 twinscrew, bigger then the whipple. The whipple kit is more complete staight up though, comes with everything you need and is alittle easier to install than the KB. KB is a pretty good kit as well, but comes with a BoostaPump instead of an actual fuel pump and a few other differences. Some dealerships let you retain your warranty with the whipple since it is a FRPP kit. Can't go wrong with either.

Another cool thing about turbos is you can run boost based on what gear you are in. 2-5psi in first,10psi in 2nd, and 20psi in 3rd and up. Twin screw blowers can be tricky to get the tires hooked up due to the instant TQ. By ~3200rps the turbo will be at full boost and maintain that boost till you let off. It will blow away a TS as far as tq and hp above that rpm range. The TS will blow the turbo out of the water at 2000rpms, and that instant TQ is fun.

turbo lag is a thing of the past, turbos these days have very minimal lag unless they're running a huge turbo.
turbos still have lag, opposed to a supercharger, wether its a ball bearing turbo or not, still have lag, ofcourse the more boost you push and the larger the turbo the more lag youll have, superchargers have an easier install as well..idk different strokes for different folks i guess

Turbos are more efficient that superhargers. Period. Nut that doesn't mean that I would rather have a turbo. If I was building a huge HP built motor, then TTs would be right up my alley. But right now, with a car that will have an internally stock motor, a twin screw is for me because my car never sees the highway, and I like the off-idle TQ of a TS blower. And there is still some turbo lag, no matter what you are running.

very true, lag no matter what, i just think turbos fit the import scene better than domestic, but times have changed, hell ive seen supercharged Sti's

whipple= instant boost

i installed a twin screw with the upgraded pulley(500hp)and have been more than happy with performance and reliabilty ever since. boost is there the second you hit the gas, turbos boost comes in around 3 to 4000rpm, look at most dyno sheets and they start at 3500 to 4000 rpm, theres a reason for that.

a properly sized turbo has barely any lag.. btw dont u think if u were racing from a dig u would launch with it spooled... i think so... who doesnt leave at atleast 2500 rpm???

turbos as high as 76mm (havent see a dyno with one larger than that) are fully spooled by 3200 rpm

check out this thread.. it has plenty of right answers and just see other views. this guy was in ur same boat.
READY TO BUY: s/c or turbo the best for 3v - ModularFords.com

all in all i do think u should sit in either or b4 purchase.

btw if u want the biggest s/c for our cars call up st motorsports and ask for a 3.4 whipple.. or try and be daring for a 5.0 whipple on top of ur 4.6 motor! (wont be smart but itll be a hit at the local meets!)
